Many thanks to the U.S. Air Force, 25th Fighter Sqadron, for their visit last night. These are the A10 jocks based in South Korea doing a little target practice just outside of town. Great group of guys. It was a real pleasure to meet and serve you all. Hope to see you all again before you depart!

A little something different here. Call it an informal marketing survey of sorts. In our continuing efforts to find things new or rare to Thailand I ran across a recipe for "Bread Bowl Soup" (see photo). The soup would be a rich and creamy bacon and potato. Not exactly on a heart patient's diet! Normally this would be a "winter dish" where I'm from, but we don't get much winter here. So, before we go all out to make a batch of this stuff, is there any interest? You can PM if you prefer not to post. Thanks!

I love a good "soup n bread bowl"...

I've seen folk use the bread bowl for other kinds a soup, too...

I still fondly remember a bowl a Cajun French Onion soup n a bread bowl in East Jefferson Parish...

As good as ur other food is, I expect this will be a big hit... Sorta like an American version of da wonderfull Brit meat pies...

For those interested in trivia legend has it that the 'Bread Bowl' was invented the summer of 1427 by an Irish noble attempting to impress a British Duke.

The Duke was so impressed with the 'Bread Bowl' that he gave the Irishman money to open a Bread Bowl shop in what is today known as Dublin.

Wow, that's pretty cool, thanks for the info! We plan on making a test run this week. I don't remember the name, but some restaurant chain in southern California specialized in this type of dish years ago.

Panera Bread is well known for putting soups in bread bowls, and they're great. In fact, I often go there for that specific reason. http://www.panerabread.com/menu/cafe/soups.php. Check it out!!

That's the place!

This one on their menu looks really yummy: Tortellini Alfredo A rich Alfredo sauce over tortellini noodles filled with ricotta, swiss & romano.

Alberto, from Little Italian, said he would make Alfredo sauce for me, but I've never taken him up on the offer.

Update on our bread bowl later.

don't know about you Dennis, but my last month's bill came a week early due to the holiday so it was a cheaper bill. This month's appears to be for 5 weeks so is somewhat higher than normal.

Haven't posted in awhile, so a little update. Since opening our Facebook Page a month ago we've had a surprising number of Thai customers. I was reluctant to try it, but after seeing every one of my wife's friends posting on FB I thought why not. Turns out to be the easiest thing we've done to broaden our customer base.

Our Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches are now our number one seller... out selling our burgers AND chili now! Many people buy one to eat here, and order a second to take home. If you haven't tried one you are missing out!

Rumor has it that Suphakit Rd (the street we're on) will become "walking street" again during Songkran. We'll be open through the holidays with limited food items available (still to be determined) and of course plenty to drink.

Joe, will have the Lynchburg Lemonade ready for your next visit ;)

Come join us!

@BigBubba,
Yes, you have a nice and effective Facebook page and it's for me not a surprise at all that eventually you will benefit from your Facebook page. But after one month already ..wow.....congratulations =D> =D>

Perhaps you can put the link to your Facebook page under your signature :-k

And another new group of 6 Thais in just this morning, so I'm equally amazed at the results! Social media is indeed a powerful advertising tool... AND it's free!

@BigBubba,

I have visited your FB page before already. What I mean is that can put your link http://www.facebook.com/BubbasBarandGrillUdonthani under your signature in this forum.

Your signature is now only text : "Bubba's Bar & Grill, home of HALF POUND Hamburgers and scrumptious Texas Chili".

This will hopefully help also for your SEO.

Also, if you want, you can make your page more attractive. See here some tips:

Goodluck with constantly updating your FB.

Cheers,
George
