Why should they cancel your booking? ... Seat you in the back row maybe!! :D

As you can see I said nothing rude or offensive to them. Just helping them to focus on their customer service, which I am sure will be their objective too. I gave them my proper name (not yours  ) and hope to be booking with them soon!!

I wrote to them first on 19th August and sent the follow up, (about the fact they could be losing lots of business), today about 10.00am Thai time.

I am happy to offer them further constructive advice if they wish. :D

I thought members might be interested in the reply to my previous email to Nok Air, which I received today.

I've cut off the names to protect the innocent, so they are not kisses Val!!
Dear xxxxxx,

Thanks for all your comments related to our payment authorization and
others. I have to admit that we had been facing many fraudulent
transactions mainly from the International Credit Card. That's the
beginning of having this policy in place. We would absolutely not like
to do this as it's also not good for our business.

To let you know how we improve this for our foreign loyal customers,
we're now in the process of User Acceptance Test of the 3D secure system
as you may know in the name of 'Verified by Visa' and 'MasterCard
SecureCode'. This will help us bring the system back and it will be
good for the merchant like us and the genuine customers like you.

I hope we can launch this system in November and have to be sorry for
the inconvenience caused during many months ago.

Best regards,

xxxxx

Well I am impressed that they bothered to reply to your email - so all is not bad.
Lets just see if they keep to their word and bring this new system online next month.
No mention of the fuel surcharges though I note
Sore point for them perhaps ??

It is still not clear to me why there is less fraud from airport ticket sales using credit cards. I am assuming they allow credit card purchases at the airpot. My simplistic mind thinks there is more checking that can be done when the purchase is over the internet for a future departure. Identification and the credit card used for the purchased can then be examined before a boarding pass is issued. What am I missing?

 With one false ID to be presented upon boarding, you could buy tickets for the whole plan load! Or not board and book a whole flight

As I mentionned earlier in this thread my bank is using the best security system available today: using a special calculator, the inconvienience being having to carry the machine with you (forget it and you're out of business)
buying online using my banks credit card goes thru the same process: credit card details link to the banks computer where i need to use that calculator.

"Verified by Visa" is using that process. Why Nok Air takes ages to link its system to better verification systems remains a mystery.

It's working now at nokair web site. You can use your International Credit Card and for some that your Issuer is VbV ready, they may ask you to register to get the PIN first before making the payment transaction.

Here is Nok's monthly news letter page 3 says verified by Visa Here

I have not used Nok for a while now, but never had a problem with using US credit card before.

It works !
Booked online today and paid with a UK issued credit card - no problems.
Two extra boxes to fill in on the payment page - Where was the card issued and what company issued it.
Thank goodness we seem to back to normal though.

They still have the rip-off fuel surcharge fee though of 400 baht which they said they would review as soon as the price of oil dropped ( it dropped about 3 months ago now I think)
