Cable Thai Holding (CTH) & EPL 2013-2016

Post by Svein66 » May 16, 2013, 8:19 am

Some news out today about CTH`s EPL sponsorship deals.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/sports/ ... nsor-deals

After reading the article, I`m worried that they won`t show all the games as True has done:

"It has reserved five channels for EPL content _ Channel 1 for live matches and reruns, Channel 2 for coverage of international EPL activities, Channel 3 for EPL events in Thailand, Channel 4 for a variety of content such as player and fan profiles and Channel 5 for inside news."

At the bottom of this article, they say CTH`s future packaging, including the packages for viewing next season`s EPL football, will be revealed on June 16.

More news about CTH/EPL today:
http://www.nationmultimedia.com/busines ... 06328.html

"On June 21, CTH will launch it`s full service, providing 140 channels including 34 HD-channels, to allow customers to watch 380 live EPL soccer matches during the new season."

And more...:
http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/tel ... ttle-royal

"CTH will introduce major sponsors for English Premier League (EPL) games from 2013-15 next Tuesday. EPL packages will be launched on June 4 in Hua Hin.

Mr Krissanan confirmed the package price for all 380 EPL matches will be less than 1,000 baht per month for subscribers.

A basic package with 120 channels can watch one EPL match a month."

CTH provider

Post by Macca » May 21, 2013, 2:36 pm

Hey all,
So next season the EPL will have a new provider. Sounds good a cheaper option is always welcome.
To be honest I'm getting a bit nervous though, living 20 kms outside of Udon Thani I am not sure if I will be able to get access to CTH.

Does anyone know a list or can recommend a cable provider that is part of the CTH group.

I know it's early but better to get started now as these things can take time.

Cheers

Thanks Svein.
Living way outside the city walls there is no way I can get a cable provider.
Does anyone know if the CHT package is also available through a satellite receiver?

You could just be lucky Macca, but it might be a bit early to find out yet.

From Svien's second link in his first post the detail includes this...
Apart from local-content production services, Fox International Channels plans to jointly launch "TV everywhere" services that CTH's subscribers will be able to access on a pay-TV basis via mobile applications on their smart devices.
That seems to indicate that tablets & smart phones will be able to pick up TV on those devices - presumably via 3G or the like.

However all this still seems to be in the pipeline rather than anything actually happening physically yet. As CTH have stumped up a load of cash to get the EPL games I imagine that it will be all a little plainer as we get near to the August kick off.. :D

"Facing difficulty in expanding its cable network upcountry in such a tight time frame, subscription-based TV operator CTH has opted to introduce satellite-TV receivers in a bid to attract more subscribers to watch live broadcasts of English Premier League (EPL) football matches during the coming season."

"To watch the company's pay-TV channels, customers must subscribe to one of the following packages; Bt199 for 79 channels; Bt299 for 107 channels; Bt399 for 120 channels; and Bt899 for the basic 120 channels, including high-definition channels, plus five EPL channels in HD."

pretty sure that CTH subcontracts to Udon Home Cable..
"Though Kasem declined to disclose either the investment cost of the satellite-TV receivers or the name of the manufacturer, he did say that CTH's more than 200 local cable operators would be distributors and sellers of the receivers

Just come back from Home Cable, cancelled my True Vision yesterday, went in & asked for the 899 service, threw the staff completely, no such thing, explained it was on the net, so phone call to the lady boss upstairs, she came down & explained. As a NEW customer I would have to buy the black box at !800 baht, monthly rental 427 baht 120 channels, when the Pre League starts you can buy credit on your card in the box to watch, I asked how much & how many channels, such as 2 or 4 or 6, she said she did not know until the promotion material came out. but probably 500 for the 6.
If you are an old customer as above but the box is free.
Behind the lady as we spoke were maybe 50/60 large cardboard boxes, each one containing perhaps 20 black boxes, so 1000 all primed ready to go out.
Offered to pay on the spot but told to pay the fixer man on the day, now just waiting for a phone call

That's interesting! I went to the Home Cable office today (across from Wolverine) to inquire about 'satellite' service. No have was their answer. I also stopped by the store of one of the partners in Home Cable.....he was in Bangkok, but his wife made a few phone calls and told me the same thing......not available in Udon.

If you find out more.....please post. I'm at the end of my yearly UBC subscription and not wanting to renew.

That is CTH TB.
I imagine that THEY will be offering that rather than through their cable providers..
Same with the reported availability via the net...

"CTH, the country's leading pay-TV operator, will offer a package including 380 live English Premier League soccer matches for upcoming seasons for Bt899 per month as part of its one-price policy.
Chief executive officer Kittsanan Ngampathipong said yesterday that as promised, the company would let subscribers view six EPL channels as well as 140 standard channels.

Current customers with a Bt399 package for 120 standard channels can pay extra to upgrade their membership to watch the EPL channels, he said.

There are two kinds of media platforms to watch the 146 TV channels. One is the company's own satellite-TV receiver, which includes turquoise Ku-band dishes, and the other is a set-top box.

The company has leased transponders from Vinasat, the Vietnamese satellite provider, to transmit its 146 channels to subscribers in the Kingdom.

Customers of other cable-TV companies can buy CTH's digital set-top box to connect to its cable network. The more than 200 local cable operators under CTH, formerly known as Cable Thai Holdings, will act as distributors and sellers of the receivers. The company also plans to recruit 400 dealers across the country.

Total subscribers from both platforms are expected to exceed 3.5 million in the first year of operation.

CTH also provides promotional packages with financing from leading banks such as Bangkok Bank and Bank of Ayudhya and financial institutions such as KTC, First Choice and Tesco Lotus."

Thanks Svein.
I think that makes it pretty clear.

Looks like anyone in Thailand will now be able to watch CTH offerings in the future - either hard wired via a local cable supplier or via a CTH satellite dish.

Their web site
http://www.cth.co.th/package-599/
only seems to list 63 of the 120 channels that will be supplied. I guess that the
balance' of channels will be made up from local Asian content???

Cable Thai Holding (CTH), the newly established cable TV operator, plans to have three to 3.5 million subscribers this year as its monthly fee for new subscribers is only 899 baht.

It is only offering one package now and viewers will get 140 standard-definition (SD) and 31 high-definition (HD) channels. They can watch 380 English Premier League football matches from six channels...

"We bring a retail marketing strategy to the content market: buy more, pay less. Every subscriber is equal," said chief executive Krissanan Ngampatipong. Subscribers can access CTH's content and services...

Subscribers can access CTH's content and services two ways. One is to get service from one of CTH's 170 member networks. Subscribers can also receive signals from Vinasat, the Vietnamese satellite dish provider.

CTH launched its set-top box and KU-band satellite dish yesterday. Subscribers must pay either 125 baht a month for rent on the set-top box or deposit 1,800 baht per box that will be refunded once it is

Initially, CTH wanted only KU-band satellite dish service, but the Thaicom 6 satellite will provide more transponders in August, so the firm will launch additional services via C-band satellite dish toto provide service to those living in remote areas or locations where fibre-optic lines cannot reach.

CTH has 2,000 teams from 400 dealers providing dish installations to new subscribers, and it aims for 5,000 this year.
