Indeed Statts ,,, CC has been a proud stand sponsor of Sunny for the last 2 seasons ,,, i was toying with the idea of just buying the club outright but my offer was turned down .......... the chairman didnt have change for a 50 quid note .

Ive got a lovely warm feeling about this season ,,, if ....IF all 11 of these new players can gel quickly i reckon mash will be a happy chappy........only one season away from playing Everton then ....

Hey mister can I have mi ball back 2013/14 season

Post by BobHelm » August 3, 2013, 12:11 pm

Well 1 game last night (Sheff Utd 2-1 Notts County - if anyone is interested) but it all kicks off today.

The two important games are in League 2 & the latest is...
Cheltenham against Burton Albion
Cheltenham manager Mark Yates has brought in seven new faces to bolster his squad for the 2013-14 campaign.
Last year's play-off semi-finalists start their season against Burton with no major injury concerns.
Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, 19, and former Stoke City midfielder Rory Delap are among five players in line to make their debuts for Burton.
Defender Zander Diamond is out injured for up to six games (foot), while Lee Bell and Rene Howe are both suspended.
VIEWS FROM THE TRAINING GROUND
Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told BBC Gloucestershire
"I've got players in my squad who can adapt so we are going to try and get the ball down and play.
"We won't be like Barcelona but we'll try and play some decent football and win games.
"Burton were a bit of a surprise package last year. I saw them last week and they're a really good side.
"They will be strong, organised and exciting to watch. We've got to make sure we are on our guard."

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Derby:
"I don't think you can expect to win playing against a strong team like Cheltenham, but what you do is you go there and try to be as competitive as you can.
"I don't think we can go there and shut up shop, we have to go there and show ambition.
"We've worked hard in pre-season for five-and-a-half weeks, so we will give it best shot."
Anything less that starting with a home win will be a disaster!!!

Scunthorpe against Mansfield Town
Scunthorpe completed their 11th summer signing with the arrival of Barnsley winger Jordan Clark on Friday.
The new-look Iron could hand competitive debuts to strikers Chris Iwelumo, Deon Burton and Sam Winnall.
Martin Riley is Mansfield Town's only injury concern after the defender sustained a dead leg in the Stags' final pre-season friendly against Gainsborough Trinity.
As many as five summer singings could debut for the League Two newcomers.
VIEW FROM THE TRAINING GROUND

Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws told BBC Radio Humberside:
"The preparations have been very good but it's an issue now of going out on the park and putting that plan together.
"It's important for us that we can spread the load of scoring goals through the team and I've been encouraged by what I've seen in pre-season that we can do that.
"We did our recruitment quite quickly, which surpassed my expectations I have to say, and the fact we did it within our budget is refreshing."

Mansfield Town boss Paul Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"Without being over the top, we want to go and compete.
"We have to be realistic in that it is our first season - we have to feel our way.
"It is about how quickly we learn and if we learn very quickly then we will see where we are by Christmas time."
Again anything less than a home win will be a disaster!!

Ha, well the Premiership players are still trying to negotiate a deal to Spain or Germany the real footballers are getting on with the start of the greatest football Cup competition in the world - The Capital One Cup... :D
Well OK just a bit of over hype for the crappiest competition that takes place in England, but it can mean a bit of extra cash which is always welcome.

The big boys enter later but here are a few matches that might cause interest..
Barnsley V Scunthorpe 19:45
Cheltenham V Crawley 19:45
Bournemouth V Portsmouth 19:45
Exeter V QPR 19:45
Middlesbrough V Accrington 19:45
Millwall V Wimbledon 19:45
Full list available here..

Well the cup games I highlighted went as so...
Barnsley 0-0 Scunthorpe - Barnsley win 5-4 on penalties.
Cheltenham 4-3 Crawley
Bournemouth 1-0 Portsmouth
Exeter 0-2 QPR
Middlesbrough 1-2 Accrington
Millwall 2-1 Wimbledon

All the rest available here..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/results

Cheltenham were never in the lead against visitors Crawley until a winner at the end of extra time as penalties were looming. Indeed at one time they were 2 goals in arrears with not much full time left.
As usual they managed a draw after 90 minutes. Now if the League will just introduce a 'play to a result' rule then they could be in with a real shout at promotion... :D :D
