Usufruct in the City of Udon

Last week I was informed by Mr. Sebastian the Lawyer that Usufruct between a farang and a Thai is not possible anymore in the City of Udon Thani.
He told me it is a decision of the new head of the government department (land and transport I believe).
In Thailand Udon Thani is the only City with this new rule.

Does anyone has had this problem to?

Yes, my lawyer told me last week aas well, that Usufructs are not longer possible in Udon.

to many farang nei, to many to fast to soon perhaps, and the idea of usufruct not what the Thai Govt intended for ' guests ' in their country, or for a 'guest ' to tie up Thai land for long periods of time, especially when that guest is only on a one year visa, and is not a citizen as such..strange that it is only Udon province, perhaps the powers that be have other ideas for Udon land, maybe they want to save thier farmland. I would have thought that Phuket would have been first for such a scheme....guess one has to fall back on a lease, or move to another province..

Whilst chatting with a lawyer today i was told that Udonthani is the only place in Thailand whee the land office etc have banned doing usufruct and 30 year leases ,,,, and by doing so the department are in fact breaking the law ,,, there are quite a few cases where because of this legal proceedings are pending so things MAY change in the future ..

The reason for this ban was the massive amount of extra work these usufructs create as there are so many farang / thai relationship break ups in Udonthani and the department has to get involved in everyone ,,, this decision was made by the local department big cheese and at any sort of government level so he could find himself or herself in the doodoo .
