Evertons positions in the Premiership under David Moyes.....

2001/02 = 15th
2002/03 = 7th
2003/04 = 17th
2004/05 = 4th
2005/06 = 11th
2006/07 = 6th
2007/08 = 5th
2008/09 = 5th
2009/10 = 8th
2010/11 = 7th
2011/12 = 7th
2012/13 = 6th

Manchester United 2013/14 currently 8th which was Moyes average position with Everton.

In passing, I think you are being extremely benevolent towards a very mediocre squad of players at Liverpool, even allowing for the unlikwel;y event of Suarez maintaining his fantastic goal scoring record of past seasons.

As already indicated, Bob and I are in total agreement that Man. City will emerge,(easily?), as EPL Champions at seasons' end, is a foregone conclusion. I am expecting a seesawing fever pitch throughout the season, between London rivals Arsenal & Chelsea, as they battle for the runners up spot.
Although, realistically, I consider Spurs should take the fourth spot, , I have, albeit somewhat diffidently, opted for the emotional choice of Man. Utd only because I think there is at least a 50% chance, AVB will 'do a Mancini' , with Utd being the beneficiary, by default, for the second season running.
There is, of course, the unpalatable, (to Utd), scenario of AVB proving to be a better manager than that for which I give him credit

, and of my 'danger' team, Everton playing to its full potential. In which case, it will probably already be too late by January, for Utd to successfully complete a salvage job.
In such event, with the Premiership now being so cut-throat, Utd no longer being the automatic first choice of players seeking a change of clubs, and the very substantial loss of revenue, which the club can ill afford then, sadly for the neutrals,this bastion of all that has been good in British football for the past several decades, will be facing an uncertain future.

If the outcome of the EPL is based on the quality of the squads then its' City

(no vomit icon) Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.
It's down to ability and quality of the managers. City looked poor and disjointed prior to Sundays blip, whilst Mourinhio appears to be on something just now with his weird team selections,
United have been poor the last 2 years and last time out were the worst team to win the EPL. Whilst Fergie got the most out of his squad Moyes still has to prove himself. I was more concerned about his inability to change the team on Sunday than the actual result.

Todays fixtures (Thai times)

6.45pm : Tottenham v Chelsea
9.00pm : Aston Villa v Manchester City,Fulham v Cardiff,Hull v West Ham,Manchester United v West Brom,
Southampton v Crystal Palace.
11.30pm : Swansea v Arsenal

Big game is the early kick off where Andre Villas-Boas comes up against Jose Mourinho after stating he is no longer his friend......should be a very interesting game.
Late kick off looks tasty too,for those who are still sober !

Some nice contests to watch today.

The early London derby should give a bit of a clue to how good the new look Spurs (sans Bale) really are. Mata seems to have eased himself back into The Special One's good books which could mean trouble for Spurs. Chelsea are a handful for anyone that lets them play pretty football in midfield.

I would watch any of the 3pm kick offs as I fancy that they all will be good contests - maybe more effort than skill in some, but even that can be good to watch.

Which Swans & Gunners will we see?? The Swans went out of the Micky Mouse Cup they won last year with hardly a whimper, but they have a small squad & other priorities this year. Arsenal don't mind letting the opposition play football, which is the Swans strength. Could be a very interesting game indeed...

FULL-TIME - Tottenham 1-1 Chelsea

Don't really know much more about who will be a title contender after this.
Spurs bossed the first half, Chelsea the second.
If it hadn't been for the Torres sending off the visitors looked the more likely to win it.
Mata came on & bossed the show for Chelsea. Torres had a good a half a game as he has had in years. Terry scored the equalised.
Lots for Chelsea to think about.
Spurs will wonder why the seemed to lose the plot in the second half after looking so convincing in the first..

No real damage done except that Chelsea look a bit lightweight on the striker front & can ill afford to miss Torres as The Not so Special One doesn't seem to rate any of his others...

West Brom win at United in the league for 1st time the 5-3 in 1978. One of my earliest childhood footy memeories.
Well deserved as they fought for every ball and closed all doors for United.

No doubt the knives are being sharpened for Moyes. Team should have been good enough t win.
Kagawa off at HT, must have been an injury.
3 points off the relegation zone

Gonna be a long old season.

1 moan......Rio Ferdinand again at fault and looking slower than a slow thing in a freeze frame.

This result is wasted on me, still sulking from last week.
Moyes was the right man for the job and still is.
His decision to replace the backroom staff was a BIG mistake and made his job even tougher.
Playing Smalling at right back last week and taking off Kagawa yesterday hasn't helped his cause. But hey, Fergie made some howlers in his time.

The biggest worry is Nani actually looked good yesterday, is that a reflection of how badly the others played

Moyes will be out with the Christmas decorations by the 6th of January, if not sooner like "Big" Ron Atkinson in 1986 who was sacked when Manchester United were also 12th in the table.

Maybe that's why he & Mrs Shanks lived in a house OVERLOOKING Bellefield ( E.F.C.'s Training Ground ) Fact as I picked Nessie ( Mrs Shanks ) up in my cab from 23 Bellefield Avenue,Quite a few times......So Put that in yer pipe & smoke it....

Perceptive, fair, & realistic assesssment Macca.
Have the feeling Man.U, and particularly DM are going to need your postings to defend them against the fair weather knee jerk supporters, who are about to start coming out the woodwork.
I wrote pre-season that Ferdinand (and indeed Evra), could prove to be major defensive weaknesses, and that signing a mid field playmaker, to supplement Carrick was vital; and such is proving to be the situation. Also I think you are spot on that replacing the whole of his assisting back room staff, was a major error in judgment, probably an unwise emotional inspred decision arising from a determination to succeed as his own man.
I stand by my original assessment that MU are in for a very hard season; are unlikely to make the top four and that Moyes most certainly should have been given every practical asssistance to strengthen a patently weak and ageing squad during the close season AT ANY COST, which did not happen.
The club hierachy, including AF, are responsible for the present unpalatable situation, NOT Moyes. I suggest that there are many football fans who will lose all respect for this great club if they use Moyes as a scapegoat. I have faith that this will not be the case.
