Republicans are a hopeless basket case.
What gets me is that people continue to vote them into office. Let's take a quick tally of their fck ups which with hindsight it is obvious they need not be in control of ANYTHING. Feel free to add:
- Two (2) unnecessary and unfunded wars
- Thousands maimed and killed in those wars
- Economic meltdown
- Multiple attacks on the homeland on their watch
- Advocated military intervention in several recent conflicts which have since been proven unnecessary (thank goodness for O's leadership!)
- Millions of job losses
- State Republicans forcing medically unnecessary vaginal probes into our women
- Complete congressional dysfunction
- State Republicans stripping unions' and workers' rights
- More guns in the hands of known criminals and the deranged leading to mass murders of our children and military personnel
- More segregation and less resources and opportunities in our schools
- oh, I can go on seemingly forever...
They've been PROVEN to be wrong so many times on so many critical issues, yet people still vote for them. Utter madness..!

That in itself is also irresponsible. Obama should step or at least be constantly reassuring Americans that the debt limit will be raised and America will pay its bills.

If he is also willing to take the US to the brink, he is no better than the republicans. I am a supporter of Obama, but he needs to work on his leadership and communication skills with his peers.

Could Social Security become a pond in this game, it's possible. But, not needed

Well they are at least talking now. One thing I picked up on yesterday from the News is that Yellen is not a shoe in with Republicans. I wonder who could be anymore qualified then she is. They have taken politics to a new low in my mind. The impression I get is kick the can down the road again. Maybe it has to be that way. Since no work seems to get done on the budget until it''s a crisis. It's not like they don't have the time before it gets like this. The are like fire company running around putting out each fire after it starts. How x could anyone expect a good recovery like this. You certainly couldn't run a company without planning. That needs to be done before it's a crisis.

bump, as I understand the process, her nomination only needs Senate approval. As the Senate is controlled by the Democrats, there shouldn't be any problem....although there might be a lot of questioning.

I hope it goes that way.

Something I did not know in the Clinton Administration we had four years of budget surplus. I have been trying to think back and remember how life was through those four years. I know Clinton used the Military to fight, I don't remember anything on the Scale of Iraq ECT. Could it be a Bl-w job is better then a snow job

I was in the military during the Clinton years.....lots of screaming and gnashing of teeth over defense cuts. Lots of people weren't convinced the end of the Cold War was really the end. I'd venture a guess that when the history books are written, budget surpluses will be a highlight.....Monica will be relegated to a fine-print footnote.

As I recall from memory, life was pretty darn good. The markets were roaring and jobs were plentiful. Good times, indeed.
Clinton did wage a bombing campaign in Sarajevo (?) in support of ending the genocide there. All from memory without confirming via the Goggle thingy.

We did have troops in Bosnia. Somalia comes to mind. But, nothing like the recent years. As I recall the military was not real happy. We have spent a fortune in recent years. I for one am happy to see the leaning towards special op units.

Short time agreement possible, so the fire department is still in operation. I doubt we will see a tape in this kind activity.

Democrats over playing their hand. Where do we get these idiots talking like it's a poker game Whats at stake the world economy. We voted for some of them I know. I don't know about you but, I expected lot better job performance then this. As far as I can tell we are only talking about six weeks before we are back to square one. This entire thing is insane.

Clinton also initiated a major air campaign against Iraq which is rarely remembered http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Iraq_(1998)
As for those great economic times under Clinton, the Dot.Com Bubble burst on March 10, 2000. Who was President then?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dot-com_bubble
The vaunted "surplus" under the Clinton administration was the result of many things, most markedly in my opinion a Republican Congress who brought Clinton to the center politically and forced a variety of cuts. The explosive growth during the Dot.Com bubble also fuelled revenue growth http://www.factcheck.org/2008/02/the-bu ... r-clinton/
