Does anybody out there play music that’s not mainstream country, blues, rock or 60s – 80s pop?

Can anybody play classical, fusion, European music, jazz, bossa nova, ballads, crossover, reggae, Latin, World music, folk music?

Doesn’t matter what instrument.

Maybe you’re into something like Cajun, Afro Cuban, Creole or whatever?

If so, I’d like to hear from you with a view to playing something a bit creative and interpretive rather than covers.

Jazz - I would dearly love to hear some jazz. Does anybody know where in Udon I can listen to jazz?
I think the Thai musicians here are excellent but I've had enough of the kind of stuff they play. It's all kind of mono cultural and copies - covers- of other people's music. I'd like to hear someone actually make music spontaneously as in jazz improvisation.

So there are two of you on this thread looking to play jazz. Why don't you get together?

The guy at the top of this page who started this thread. I've seen him play. He plays jazz on Stevie Wonder type harmonicas & he's pretty good too.

Thrilled:

Places to play in Udon? Good.

Presumably, u r referrin to Western (rock, blues, jazz, CnW) music? Other than the W.P., are there some other farang venues?

One caution tho, I, and, others, have been tryin to do some "playin out" for some years. In older days, before the farang population explosion, it was cool. But, in recent years Immigration's been makin noise off and on... The head a dat office, here, explained to me, that farangs could NOT play in any "COMMERCIAL" venues, unless we had work permits. We, could, however, play at parties in private homes (NOT for money of course!).
