Welcome to Tha Naam Restaurant (Sponsor)

Post by chickaboom » November 22, 2013, 7:25 pm

Does anybody know anything about a new restaurant called Tha Naam that's supposed to be on the Sakhon Nakhon road not far from Big C? I'm told it's near a lake but I've been up and down that road and can't see a sign for it or a lake. I met a couple in another restaurant who'd been there and said it's worth checking out. Anybody been there?

Looks like a nice place and well worth a visit.
I wonder if I can fish in their lake?

Blog looks great and can be sure music will be spot on too. I remember the host, Dave, playing an impromtu gig at a 5th or 10th birthday of Harry's Bar with a few blokes from the VOA station. I also remember a party or two when a famous Udon resident chef may have played a few tunes with Dave and friends. Will definately make a point of dropping for the food and music in when next in town.

Yes, I've been there and very nice it was too. It's more the sort of place I'd go and spend an evening rather than eat and go. They have proper chefs too as opposed to cooks.
I see that they have 3 blogs. This one is their photo page http://thanaamrestpics.blogspot.com/ There are a couple of reviews in the where to eat section of these pages.

Road to Sakhon Nakhon..

Pass Big C on the overpass. Drive about 1 km

Turn Left just after the Pedestrian Overpass at Ban Nongkam School. (Which is just before the Border Police Camp). There is also a huge blue sign advertising Private Park Ville.

Turn right at the first intersection and Tha Naam is about 100 m on your right.. Orange wall.. Lakeside.

There is also a Map on the blog...

Lots of room and gardens for the kids to run around. Anyone is welcome to get up and sing or play with the trio.. We have a nice sound system/P.A. And hope to get some good musical jams happening sometime.. Stay tuned..

The locals fish in the lake. I've released fingerlings over the years, although I don't fish..

Hey Pompui
There are 3 reviews in the members only Eating Out in Udon - Members Reviews section. One of them is by Tubrit with a photo of his wife with a big spread of food in front of her.

On their blog you can click through to their other two blogs. One is a music site and the other has about 20 photos of the place: http://thanaamrestpics.blogspot.com/ Here are some pics copied from their blog

Have just been down there and waited 30 minutes before somebody asked me to move to a table 100 meter from the musicians (who I know),and was told that there was a birthday party going on in a closed room and that they did not want me to smoke (e-vapor cigarette) near the partyroom (outside). Bad service, prices skyhigh, everything dirty and bad maintained. I really would not recommend this place to anyone.

also had a negative dining experience, food and service (delivery time to table, not wait staff), after our first visit was quite positive. I won't be returning.

They say a restaurant's reputation is as good as their last meal and for us it is. We just had a really great meal there and the service was tops. We didn't think it was expensive either. It's very much an outdoor thing because the gardens are so nice so I wouldn't go there on a rainy day.

Just went there again with a party of 6. New Chef but food even better if anything. A lot of earthworks going on across the other side of the lake. I was told the Government is turning the lake edges into a park with a walking track like Nom Prajak. It should be really beautiful when completed.
