Wood flooring

Post by Baht Man » January 18, 2014, 9:50 am

Do Home (amongst others) has a couple types on display and I was thinking :-"

As I'm in the start of a build and forward thinking, it looked appealing and not a lot more than the tile I was looking at someplace.

One was only about 1/4 inch thick but another was maybe 3/4 inch, 5 layer base with anti termite something or other built in, a venier layer on that and a bunch of top coats of a sealer over that.

Has anyone here used this type of flooring here (I had hardwoods in the states) that could give me some feedback?

I have slight concerns about moisture seepage (only slight) but it would occur with tile anyway.

Any and all input is appreciated.

Thanks

Up to you but for me I'd go for the tile but with the wood look, the best example is inside Cherm Chim choice in the small food corner! it's a great finish and it's hassle free for cleaning and worry about damage/ termites etc

Quality of the wood flooring looks similar to that in the US (mid-priced). I'd be much more concerned about finding skills craftsmen to put the flooring in.

Agreed. Went back to take a second look.
Product was an 8 ply base with termite protector built in (5 year guar.), venier overlay and 5 coats of protectant.
Also needed foam underlayment and trim. I figure the cost per sq.m. would come in around 2000 b. each..

Stickin' with tile.

Thanks
