Anyway,I have enclosed a pic of Garbine Muguruza, who is quite pleasant on the eye but,for a beauty I would say Dominika Cibulkova would be my choice (pic also attached for tennis connoisseurs only).
Well, I DID get the initials correct which, considering my state of excitement, I think commendable. =D>
"Dominika Cibulkova would be my choice " Agree. She has the most incredible smile, and projects a very bubbly personality. However, would your choice be before, after, or at the same time as choosing Beyonce?

Incidentally,Beyonce is a big tennis fan and often attends the US Finals at Flushing Meadow (just to keep on topic)
But see what you tennis buffs think ?

I love that tennis outfit Beyonce is, (almost), wearing. [-o<
Reluctantly moving on to the Mens tennis.
The strange Mr. Nadal was given the fright of his life by a certain diminuitive Japanese gentleman before scraping through to the quarter finals 7-6,7-5,7-6. Nadal added to his already impressive number of demonstrations, over many years, of his contempt for the rules, (not to mention his opponents and the spineless administrators of the game), by continually keeping his opponent waiting as he repeatedly exceeded the service time limit when serving, as well as ignoring the requirement that you play at the pace of the server, when receiving. I clocked him on at least one occasion when he took some 45 seconds to serve. As usual, not a peek from the Umpire! Remarkable that, for once, Nadal didn't seek a 'rest room break' or call for the Physio, when things got tight Probably saving that ploy for when/if he finds himself in trouble later in the week.
Good News Time! After refusing to believe what I was seeing, when watchng Federers previous two matches, his total demolition of the unfortunate Tsonga to-day proved, beyond any possible doubt, that reports and rumours circulating over the past twelve months of Federers' demise, are entirely without foundation. The tennis genius that is Federer, was well and truly back at work to-day. Could he really confound all us doubters by winning just one more Open, either this week, or at Wimbledon? To do so, would be so typically Federer!

The mens Quarter Finals are :
Berdych (7) v Ferrer (3)
Wawrinka (8) v Djokovic (2)
Nadal (1) v Dimitrov (22)
Murray (4) v Federer (6)
I agree it would be great if Federer won another major title. He is one of my all time favourites.A fantastic player who is also a true gentlemen.
Shame he is playing Murray,a Brit.....split loyalties here.....a bit like Manchester United playing Macclesfield Town.....although Macclesfield would, most likely triumph at present !
The womens Quarter Finals are :
Ivanovic (14) v Bouchard (30)
Li Na (4) v Pennetta (28)
Halep (11) v Cibulkova (20)
Radwanska (5) v Azarenka (2)
I hope the ladies final is Ivanovic v Cibulkova.....for purely tennis reasons, obviously

The big shock yesterday was Wawrinka beating Djokovic in 5 sets,2-6 6-4 6-2 3-6 9-7 in an epic match.
The Swiss guy has certainly improved in the last couple of years and is now up there challenging the big names.
Berdych beat Ferrer in 4 sets.....not such a big shock.Ferrer is a very consistent player but lacks the all round power to win Grand Slam titles.
In the two womens Quarter Finals Li Na easily brushed aside Pannetta 6-2 6-2 and well done to the Canadian teenager,Eugenie Bouchard(another very pretty young lady),who beat Ana Ivanovic 5-7 7-5 6-2.
The other Quarter Finals (men and womens) are being played today.

Why would Stan beating Novak be a big shock. Every time they play, it is a close match. Last year they also played and it went 5 sets. Their styles match up really well.

Wawrinka has really improved the last couple of years but I dont think many would have bet on him beating Djokovic.
Prior to yesterday they had met 19 times with Wawrinka only winning twice and one of those was when Djokovic retired......before yesterday it had only gone to five sets on three occassions.

i just saw the Federer against Murray match and I just loved to see him play tennis.. I like the quality of players like Nadal, Djokovic and Murray. But none of the three come close to what Federer can do with a ball. From physical ability they are better players. Although extremely talented, they remain workers compared to Federer. Federer can play balls as a painting.... Something that never one has done before. Like Picasso in his paintings or a van Gogh with his sunflowers. He is my favorite tennis player.. Hope he will win

Yes,a great win for Federer. To be fair to Murray, though,he has only just come back from a lengthy lay off.
But I hope Federer wins as well.....in fact I hope its an all Swiss final.....semis are :
Berdych v Wawrinka
Federer v Nadal
Womens semis are :
Bouchard v Li Na
Cibulkova v Radwanska
For the women I would like to see Bouchard v Cibulkova in the final but I have got a feeling neither will make it.....maybe the same for the men with neither of the Swiss winning ?

Thank you Radwanska; my cup runneth over for both of us . I rate your display the best by any individual player in this tournament to date. To not only beat, but virtually humiliate Azarenka with that 6-1,7-5, 6-0 thrashing, after having lost to her on the thirteen consecutive matches you had previously played, defies description.Your standard of play, in the final set particularly, was breathtaking. =D> =D>
What a fabulous pair of semi final matches to which to look forward. Four delightfull young ladies, all of whom have been playing great tennis in this tournament, and with Bouchard, Cibulkova and Radwanska demonstrating, like LiNa, they proudly belong to a new generation of players neither impressed nor intimidated by reputations, bullying, gamesmanship or over inflated egos, Womens tennis will once again become a pleasure to watch; starting, of course, with the mouthwatering prospset of these two upcoming semi-finals.
I think the all round court play and superior experience of LiNa will be too much for the promising, but still naive, Bouchard. I have mixed emotions regarding the second semi final after having twice watched the equally superb, but vastly different performances of Cibulka & Radwanska against Sharapova & Azarenka respectively. But, on balance, I think that the sheer exuberance and extrovert personality of Cibulkova will decide the match in her favour.
PS. No, my selection of Cibulkova is NOT simply to curry favour with Zid :-"
Will follow up on the equally enthralling Mens' tournament later, but meantime would like to echo, as I am sure would millions of other tennis fans, Tamarlanes beautifully expressed comments regarding Federer.

You clearly have a different definition of "humiliate" and "thrashing" to mine, m80.
While I did not watch the game, the fact the match went to 3 sets would tend to undermine the adjectives I have highlighted above.
Perhaps you were a day early, and were forecasting the score in today's 6-1 6-2 defeat of Ms Radwanska by Ms Cibulkova.

Mens Oz Open.
In my opinion Dimitri was the better player in his quarter final match against Nadal, and should have won. That he didn't do so was because he allowed himself to be intimidated by the legend of Nadal, instead of simply playing the opponent on the other side of the net. He had the tennis match won, but the deciding factor was the mental mismatch. Dimitri could learn from the examples provided by the conquerors of Williams, Sharapova & Azrenka, all of whom demonstrated the essential ingredient of self belief, in achieving their wins. It is also arguable as to the extent to which the continuing determination of the officials to allow Nadal to be the sole arbiter of the recovery time he can take between serves and games, (yet again very much in evidence in this match), contributed towards his win.
On the Mens first semi final. Over the last twelve months, the very talented Berdych has shown signs of adding more consistency to his, at times, quite brilliant stroke play, and has earned his shot at reaching the final. I hold up my hand and admit I have been a long time admirer of Wawrinkas game, and his mental strength, while being frustrated at his failure to capitalise upon his abilities. Again, as with Berdych, he has taken his game to a whole new level during the course of the last approximate twelve months, and I believe that he is now at a level on a par with the current top four, and which he will demonstrate this Tennis Season. With the caveat that his marathon match against Djokavic has not drained him physically, I think Wawrinkas' greater all round game, fitness and single mindedness, will gain him passage to the final.
Irrespective of my less than flattering opinion of Nadal, I feel that, despite his absolutely outstanding record since his return from injury, he is no longer the unbeatable colossus the media would have us believe. Indeed, his performances in this current Major, have tended to support my view. Certainly that the unheralded Dimitri outplayed him, should be giving him cause for concern. On the other hand the "newborn' Federer has spent to first ten days of the tournament ressurrecting memories of the game of tennis as only he knew how to play it, and causing us all astonishment and pleasure, in equal measure. Should he continue on, in the same vein, against Nadal tomorrow, Nadal would have no option but to point to his, suddenly, bad knee, as he limped off the court, a beaten man. But fairytales are just that, fairytales, and this is real life. Federer has confounded us all with his performances over the past ten days, and I am sure he will; give Nadal the match of his life to-morrow. But the fact is that Federer is pushing 33, and will be playing his sixth game, in just a few days, and against arguably the number One player in the world and, unarguably, the physically strongest and most aggressive player in tennis. Sadly, I can only see a Nadal win; but I shall continue to pray for a miracle!!!

welll one day further in the tournament..i like Li Na to win the tournament . Not so much about her way of playing tennis but i do remember a quite hilarious speech from a few years ago where she made fun of her husband and then also coach. Dont know if they are still together.
On the mens side Wawrinka is the first finalist... His record against both Federer(14-1) and Nadal(15-0) suggest not a real chance... So the winner comes from tomorrows semi-final.... Nadal is certainly not at his peak at the moment... Federer is way better than last year,,,so a good chance for an all swiss final....but unfortunately Nadal is best in those kind of games

Sadly,Federer was well beaten by Nadal, who will meet Wawrinka in the final,7-6,6-3,6-3.
Ladies final is Li Na against Cibulkova.
Nadal must be hot favourite for the mens title but the ladies is more difficult to predict. If Cibulkova can play like she did against Sharapova,Halep and Radwanska she may well do it.

As expected Li Na complete a fairly routine win over the inexperienced, though promising Bouchard. The score line of 6-1, 6-2, in favour of Cibulkova over Radwanska hides the real life drama behind this result. Despite having lost her previous twelve meetings against Azarenka, and therefore given no chance, Radwanska played the match of her life to defeat the Number One seed. Required to take on the exuberant Cibulkova only some 24 hours later, proved altogether too much for Radwanska, who it was clear from the outset still remained both physically and emotionally drained. Thus, while congratulating Cibulkova on the performances she has produced to deservedly reach her first Majors final, I empathize with Radwanska in her disappointment and despondency, at the depth of which I can only speculate.
I anticipate the tactical know how and greater repertoire of strokes of LI NA will be sufficient to overcome the exuberance and power of Cibulkova, to enable this Australian fans favourite to take the title.
The match between Berdych & Wawrinka was akin to a match of the Titans, with no quarter asked or given. Certainly not a match for the tennis purists, since the result hinged upon a combination of which player would prove to be the strongest physically and able to maintain the efficiency and ferocity of service. One break of service and three tie break sets adequately and fairly sums up this match. Based on his performances throughout the tournament, Wawrinka just about deserves the doubtful privilege of attempting to halt his twelve match losing streak playing against Nadal.
Not really anything to add to my pre-match forecast, regarding Nadals’ defeat of Federer. The mens game has evolved to a tremendous degree, and with startling rapidity, during the course of the last decade. I state confidently that this defeat of Federer finally ended the possibility of any 30+ year old player winning a Major in the future.
I suspect that Nadal is going to find a vastly different Wawrinka to that he has overwhelmed in their previous twelve encounters. I think that, provided Wawrinka does not fall into the trap of being conned by Nadals’ mind games, and distracted by his carefully orchestrated gamesmanship tactics, he will demonstrate his ability to match Nadals' physical strength and power play, and cause the biggest upset, of what has been a tournament of unexpected twists and turns. I take WAWRINKA to win.

Li Na was a deserved winner of the Ladies Australian Open by a score of 7-6,6-0 but both girls were a credit to the game of tennis.Cibulkova smiling and humble in defeat....her time will surely come again....and Li Na twice a losing finalist who comes across as having a great sense of humour.
I'd love to see Wawrinka triumph tomorrow but I think the chances of that happening are the same as Villas-Boas being re-appointed manager of Spurs.....something that could have serious health consequences for poster(s) on this forum !

Zid, you will remember I wrote that I was confident that Wawrinka would beat Nadal, PROVIDED HE DIDN'T FALL INTO THE TRAP OF ALLOWING NADAL TO CON HIM OUT OF THE VICTORY BY USE OF HIS TRIED AND PROVEN 'CONNING AND GAMEMANSHIP TACTIC",
What you are watching is a classic demonstration b Nadal doing just that, and thereby has comletely broken Wawrinkas' concentration, as he has done so many times before, with so many other players. I suspect game(manshp), set and Championship to the sporting Mr. Nadal, unless Wawrinka can find the strength of mind to match that of Nadal. and play him at TENNIS!

Zidane O Mat 2.
Happily, Wawrinka decided to return to his own game plan, and leave Nadal to indulge in his personal theatrics alone. Fantastic performance by one of the Gentlemen, (remember that noun?), of Tennis, who has now firmly removed any doubts regarding his right to be considered among the elite in mens tennis.
The bad news, my overview on what has been one of the most fascinating, (hopefully), game changing fortnights in professional tennis, will follow.
Meantime, Zid has selfishly tinged my personal joy, with a touch of jealousy and a large dollop of dread & horror. The first at the thought of him reluctantly :-" being forced to console Beyonce, and the second at his drawing to my attention that the possibility,(odds) of AVB being reappointed as Spurs Manager is very real!
