Guns & Shooting- Hobby.

Post by mathusalah80 » February 14, 2014, 9:37 am

I would like to explore the possibility of taking up shooting, by way of a new interest; to fill the gap in my life by the enforced necessity to forego bad woman, excessive alcohol and late lights. :(
Would be very grateful if any of you, ( probably American?), members are aware of a Gun Club/Shooting Range in the general local area, also the extent of my entitlement, under Thai Law, to ownership of a handgun/rifle.
Thanks.

There is a gun club at the Border Police Training Center on Udonsakon Hwy not far off the Ring
Rd past Big C. I understand a pistol can be rented there, 9mm Glock. Foreigners can not own a gun but a Thai wife or other may if they pass a background check and have a lot of money, guns are not cheap here. PM me for more information,

We just got a weapon registered (wife). Not too much trouble once you get over being broke after buying one. PM me if you want the low down on what to do.
Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, hit 'em with the one they don't expect, and just keep hitting.

I purchased a 9mm Glock a couple years back in the U.S. for about 15,000 baht. Though expensive, firearms do hold their value. They are easy to resell here in the U.S. For inexpensive shooting, the purchase of a small caliber firearm may prove to be the right choice. Hearing protection is always recommended when using a firearm.

Am I the only one that is mortified by the thought of an octogenarian firing a gun? Most of the ones I know can't even hold a glass of beer without spilling it .

Yes, good luck to his family, friends and neighbours. At least he claims to be going easy on the turps. It's a shame he seems to have had to give up chasing bad women. We might all be a bit safer if this was his favoured leisure activity.

Reminds me of my favorite quote from W.C. Fields. When asked what he did with all his money he replied, "Half I spent on loose women, booze, and gambling, the other half I wasted."

You are most certainly the only one seemingly totally fixated by everything THIS octagenarian writes and does, on the Forum,Trubrit  :-" Please accept, once and for ever, I really am NOT interested in you. :( So suggest you seek an alternative source to satisfy your somewhat strange predilection with this old man. Perhaps a younger one? \:D/ Wish you luck. ;) :D

GT93. You might think it funny now, but just wait until you are too old to enjoy the REAL pleasures in life. :(
GaryZX6R. Thanks for your 'encouragement' Gary  I am almost afraid to ask you about the likely amount of any fees, both unofficial and unoffical, I would be required to shell out.
BigBubba. I think his best, Bubba was: "I was making my way along this extremely narrow cliff path, with a sheer drop on one side. As I rounded a bend I came face to face with this beautiful girl. I couldn't decide whether to block her passage, or toss myself off".
The BBC banned him. How times change since, to-day, that joke would probably have ewrned him a nomination for Comedian of the Year.
Thanks for all the helpful advice, and I enjoyed those humorous posts, which were PLEASANTLY intended.

women are as a cliff over which men fall to their deaths...hahaha

as for shooting, it is an expensive hobby sometimes, buts so is drinking, hotrods, and gambling...can always do your own reloading..better than sitting around staring at your navel..

Think you may have missed it, Maaka. "Tossing one's self off" does NOT refer to going off the cliff in this instance. ;)

I'm preparing for that period of my life mathusalah. I'm only a couple of decades behind you and not too far from spilling my beer. I think I enjoy looking at girls (say 18 plus) more than ever. If my eye sight holds up, I hope to have a few more decades of that.

Thanks to increasing immigration there are more and more slim long black haired Asian girls with lovely smiles walking past me most days in farangland to look over. When they start taking up guns and shooting, I think I will too. Thanks for the financial advice Maaka. I better start putting some money aside.

Speak for yourself! :(

GT93.Two decades behind me! :irked: What's with the negativity? You should be just getting started in really appreciating those three essentials in life. [-X . That's one of the major drawbacks in Udonthani these days; to many of you young beggars being allowed in. Oh for yesteryears :(

Good luck in your search mat.

If you are successful, hopefully the Club will have for hire special boots, with bullet resistant uppers and toe caps. :D

Is that comment an expression of concern for me, or the other members ? :? Either way, his insensitive comment wasn't THAT funny Bubba. [-X
That you appear to be prioratising foot safety above other functioning body parts, leads me to wonder if you are much further along the road to senility than I had imagined Jack! :-"
