Malaysia Airlines plane missing with 239 on board
A good friend of ours and our neighbor died several years ago. His wife said her mobile phone rang several times after his death.....with his number showing as the source.
Several Thais have mentioned the 'alien' word to me regarding this incident. I'd expect the ratio of Thais believing the 'alien' connection will increase with each hour of unsuccessful search efforts.
Interesting question posed in today's NYT: WTF with these ancient black boxes....with today's technology, it's very easy to link real-time info to the ground....and apparently some aircraft are equipped with this capability. Airlines would complain if the requirement were mandatory....too expensive....but I'd guess a single search effort would pay for a good portion of the major airlines costs in converting. FFT
As for the airplane landing somewhere.....and not yet reported after 3 days.......I'd have to agree. You're watching too many movies (sound like B version).

Decompression, pilot panicked, set new coords, passed out, plane could be in the Indian Ocean! There was enough fuel on board to go 2000 miles.

This is becoming quite an interesting whatdunnit / whodunnit or wheredunnit.
I wonder if the pilot announced to the passengers we're going for a slight detour as I want to do a couple of laps around my mia noi's house.

Rapidly turning from (likely) tragedy into full-blown farce:
The Malaysian air force has denied reports a passenger plane that vanished with 239 people on board was detected on radar far west of its flight path.
.......
Air force chief General Rodzali Daud was this morning quoted by Malaysian media as saying that radar had last detected the plane over the Strait of Malacca off western Malaysia.
That location would have indicated the flight had banked far to the west of its intended flight path over the South China Sea.
But Mr Rodzali says he "did not make any such statements," and that newspaper Berita Harian published "what is clearly an inaccurate and incorrect report"...........

Right now I tend to agree with this scenario, although can't see why the pilots would turn off the transponders even if suffering oxygen starvation.nel123 wrote:Decompression, pilot panicked, set new coords, passed out, plane could be in the Indian Ocean! Just watched a half hour CNN bulliten and there was no mention of mobile phones?

I'm beginning to believe the Thais may be on to something with their talk of aliens.

I agree. The Malaysians are beginning to look like they couldn't even organize a piss-up in a brewery. I wouldn't level that criticism at the Thais. They can even organize a piss up in a temple.

They might ask the Africans to have a look as well. I heard on the radio this morning that an eye witness saw the burning plane go down. He was working on an oil rig and immediately sent a detailed email to Malaysian and Vietnamese officials. The circus continues. I gotta wonder how Malaysian planes ever successfully find their destinations given how geographically challenged Malaysian officials are.

Looks like they may have found it. The Chinese have released satellite images they took the day after the crash, but only released them today ..... http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/world/ ... ing-plane/

What I find surprising is that they say the transponder was turned off. Why would there be a need to turn it off and why is it possible to turn it off.
Surely it should be in the black box where it is tamper proof and turned on permanently.

Took awhile for the Chinese to photo shop and "dumb down" the images. I doubt they would be publically releasing the true detail of images they are able to obtain from any of their satellites, or reveal specific tracking technology available to them. Just a thought.Looks like they may have found it. Ardy, it does seem the Kiwi oil rig worker was correct. His information is backed by credible sources indeed.
