It's been a good many years since we were there......but little to see other than salt drying. You can buy bags of Ban Dung salt along the Nongwahsaw highway....20 baht a kilo. If you're in the area of Kamchanot, then a stop by the salt flats might be along the way.

Very nice insight into the daily life of things that many of us take for granted.........we've bought bags of Bandung salt for years.......passed by the salt flats without paying them much attention......I always thought the bagged salt was pure Bandung ground salt........now I know there's at least a hint of human sweat that gives it its distinctive flavor. Thanks, for sharing.

Phen - I had a read of your blog a couple of days ago and I found it most interesting, There's some great photos on the blog and you write the posts excellently too. I will definitely return to read more.

Ban Dung salt.... I've passed the salt farm many times before on my way to Ban Dung town and a much needed social drink. My Thai partner has stopped a few times in the past and bought a 20 baht bag of salt. Now to my point, the salt we've bought has been for household use, clearing and unblocking the toilet pipes and water sink drainage. Is the salt edible, or is it industrial salt, or both? I'm a bit confused.

Thanks for an interesting read.

Does anyone know if they sell 25 Kilo bags & the price. It would be good to put in the swimming pool. I pay 160 baht per bag at Phukit Pools whereas UD pools want 250 baht per bag for 25 Kilo.

Thanks for the info.
I have never been to Ban Dung so the idea is to have a drink & something to eat in Ban Dung & make a day of it.
Will buy about 8, 20 Kilo bags of the washed salt maybe get the price down a little.
Seems like a good day out to visit the farm for a change.

Thanks. Can you give me a rough idea where the restaurant is.
I will be coming in on the 2255 road from Na Kha. Do I turn left at the T Junction where the 2255 meets the 2096 & head towards the Police Station & what I take is the center of town.

Turn left off 2022 onto 2096, and head into town.

2 - 300 metres past the hospital you will see a sign for eddies Bar on your left - that is the place to stop for a beer.

About 30 metres further on (same side) is Nakhom Pathom.

Thanks very much.
I saw Eddies Sports Bar on Google map.
Will probably take the trip next week & call in Eddies first then go to the restaurant. for a late lunch.
