Asahi beer at the Arena next to Nong Prajak lake. They have a promotion too, buy one large bottle and get a smaller bottle free
damn, was just there the other day, didn't notice.
The Jazz has (had) the same promotion going. When I admired the waitress's Asahi
finally, a good reason to visit, sis is right down the street, i'll be there. definitely need to get out more. :D
If you live close to the Jazz, we must be neighbors. They are about 100 meters from me. I can hear the music at night while I am trying to go to sleep. There is one taller and older waitress who is usually sporting some type of Asahi "gimme-wear", a shirt or hat. Ask her. The other waitresses there look to be about 12 years old. The Asahi girl appears to be about 19.

Actually "Elephantbeer" is since long one of carlsbergs brands , its a stronger beer (that does not taste all that good in my opinion). So my guess is that Carlsberg sort of let Thai Bev. to use it(Chang. and then Carlsberg did not get anything in return , thereof the legal dispute.

The Danish Carlsberg Hof is my favorite beer , though I must admit that the Thai Carlsberg did not live up to it.

My Thai wife does not like ice in her beer , I do , sometimes , but waitresses always serve her the beer with ice... :?

A strong brew, Elephant beer from Carlsberg over 7%, originally made for the African market way back when, hence the (big eared)Elephant label, a little syrupy for my liking.

Has anyone drunk that Dutch beer called, "Navigator"?

Thick as syrup and 11 percent proof.

Boy, was I pi**ed on that. They tell me I was dancing at a party waving my trousers over my head. Blowed if I can remember.

never tried Navigator, it's made by Grolsch, thought it was around 9% but never tried it so can't say for certain, would blow your top off for definate along with Carlsberg special brew or Tennents Super 9% the prefered drink of tramps.

Just going back to lutefisk...

* "Luting" -- adding the lye
Make a solution of water and *CAUSTIC SODA* (NaOH) using 50 grams of soda per 7 litres of water. The soaked fish should be left in the soda solution for about 24 hours. Subsequently, it should be watered down, preferably in running water, for approximately 48 hours. Then the fish is ready to be cooked or frozen. *

Wrap it up tightly in tin foil, put it in a warm oven and bake it at about 200 degrees C for 30-40 minutes.
Serve the freshly cooked lutefisk together with potatoes, pease pudding and melted fat from pork ribs or bacon, or melted butter. Some people also enjoy it with mustard and goat cheese.

Would go well with plenty of Navigator Beer

Friedenlunds Beer in the family home or more likely home made aquivit was used to wash down the lutefisk. Black pepper and butter with cream sauce was the standard covering. And gjetost, goat cheese of course. Dang, now I am hungry.
Legend has it that the invading Vikings were set upon by Brits who tried to poison their fish barrels with lye. The Norwegians, of course, just washed it off, boiled it to until it was a gelatinous mess, poured it on potatos and made it into a national tradition.
Never heard of Navigator. As a child who only visited the Norwegian family during summer vacation, I missed out on a few things. We did have the aquivit and lutefisk at home in Minne-snowta.

Thanks for the tip.......Great i'll have 75bahts worth and several beers at the same time. :D

(75 a big un is a good deal for an import)

back to the lutefisk again sorry.... i read this:

1. Take a shot aquavit.
2. Take another shot.
3. Put a bit of caviar on a bit of lettuce.
4. Put the lettuce on a cracker.
5. Squeeze some lemon juice on the caviar.
6. Pour some Tomato ketchup on the Kit-Kat chocolate bar.
7. Tie the dishtowel around your eyes.

If you can taste the difference between caviar on a cracker and ketchup on a Kit-Kat while blindfolded, you have not had enough aquavit to be ready for lutefisk. Return to step one

lutefisk sounds better the more i learn.

I developed an early taste for it as a baby, which allowed me to sit at the big people's table for the holidays. Kids had to sit at the card tables because they would not eat it. It also started my life of drinking at a far to early age.
Two years ago when I was stationed in Germany, Ryan Air had just started flights to Stockholm at this time of year. I flew to the odd little outlying airport that they used on the innagural flight for 10 Euros. It cost me 20 Euros to fly back. When I got there, I was aksed why I would fly to Sweden for one night. I replied lutefisk and was immediatly shunned by all but those not sober. An unruly bunch of Swedes from the airport drove me into this little pub and gausthaus in who knows where. It was, as the Brits call it, a real pissup. A great time, wonderful lutefisk, cold aquivit and a hazy, hazy memory. Got to love those Swedes.
