UDON THANI FC - The 2014-season
Good work Svein.
I'm happy that someone take the time to let me understand what happen with UDFC.
Maybe it's possible to put some dreams on the website too. Like new stadium.
Always nice to see how we thinking now and what is done after 10 years.

I got this message from wikipedia:
"...please make sure that the information you add is referenced to reliable published sources: information that is only from your own knowledge, or from unpublished private material, is not acceptable on Wikipedia and may be deleted.
I told them I got all info from wikipedia in thai, or from people in or around the club, so have to see if they accept that or if they delete something. Anyway, it might not be as easy as I thought to make a good UDFC-page there. Won`t add anything more there until I know what they want to do...

That 'checking up' may be a fairly new initiative, because the history tab shows I changed similar things to yourself previously, but I don't recall receiving such a message, only a request to identify who I was.
The information is, after all, low key, unlikely to upset anybody even in the unlikely event it was inaccurate.

I see that both Buriram and Suphanburi has the "warning" at the top of their wikipages same as Udon, but Bangkok United don`t. I have added some "See also"-links where some of the info can be found.
I think the new chairman might be presented at the game today. After what I understand there will be more talk about a new stadium now, but of course, that don`t mean that it will actually happen soon.
A fan I chatted with last night said the club would get many new players when the transferwindow opens again in June. It will be interesting to see what the new chairman can and will do.

Another win for UDFC yesterday.
And back into 2nd spot after Surin only managed a draw. And finally I got my big-sized shirt which I ordered at the first homegame some time ago.
The half-time break yesterday was 38 minutes. The ref was ready to get the 2nd half started when a man in a suit stopped him. The reason was that Mahasarakham wanted police to be present, so everyone had to wait for them to show up. The 2nd half was delayed 17 minutes. I wonder why it was ok to play 1st half without any police, but not 2nd.
Not many games this season has ended around the time it was supposed to. There`s been a team walking off the pitch in protest. There`s been waiting for an ambulance to arrive before a game could start. There`s been a brawl and lots of timewasting at one game, and then the missing police yesterday. Many games take more than 2 hour 15 minutes from the time it should have started to the time it should have ended.

Yes he was. But as often the case, I noticed the VIP area was virtually empty before the game finished.Svein66 wrote:I think the new chairman might be presented at the game today.

I haven`t seen a poster yet, but next game is in Sakhon Nakhon tomorrow at 4PM. Sakhon Nakhon only has 4 points so far and stay 3rd from bottom in the table, so it`s a game UDFC should win.

After tomorrow`s game there`s a 3 week break due to Songkran, so the next game is at home to Nong Khai on April 26th.

UDFC won 3-0 today after goals from no 19 (2) and 40.
Third placed Surin lost at Loei, so it`s 4 points from Udon in 2nd to Loei in 3rd place after today`s games.

UDON THANI FC - The 2014-season
Drove to Sakorn Nakorn yesterday. Pitch was rough but, as usual, players made light of it. A fair number of Udon fans made the journey. Very few Sakorn Nakorn fans – how does the Club survive?
A very comprehensive, solid performance by Udon and three good goals, the first particularly pleasing. Perhaps someone will post a video?
What seems to be the norm now was an official (Sakorn coach) on the pitch, laying hands aggressively on the referee and a delay, whilst Sakorn seemingly considered if they wanted to continue playing! Why is this tolerated here? The problem was a Sakorn injured player in the Udon penalty box, whilst Udon ran down the other end to score. I didn’t notice the player and not sure the ref did. In my younger days, a referee would stop play only if an obvious, serious injury. Nowadays, under this Fair Play ‘initiative’, the other team is expected to kick the ball out when someone’s down, or the referee stops play all too easily. When it doesn’t happen, it leads to hassle! I think I prefer the older system.
Slept very well last night. Two 3-0 away wins for my teams doesn’t occur very often and no doubt aided my sleep. The driving too – how did I used to manage Udon to Phuket several times, in a day and a bit? Must have been lust!

UDON THANI FC - The 2014-season
This is not limited to Udon Thani FC as per the topic, but some readers might be interested in the email I sent to FIFA and the reply(not Sepp Blatter, I think). I might follow up with the Thai FA, but am not that hopeful of a reply.
The reply ........
In the FIFA Laws of the Game there is nothing about any stoppages.
For this reason you should ask the Thai FA whether they have some special competition regulations
Best Regards
My email.........
Subject: Stoppage in Play Rule
I am an Englishman now resident in Thailand. I watch a fair amount of live football following my local team here.
I’m truly amazed at the number of occasions when a referee’s decision is disputed to the extent that he is verbally abused, sometimes physically attacked, officials enter the field of play, players get involved in scuffles, team ‘walk-offs’, police intervention etc. This is Thailand and I can assure you that many ‘strange’ things occur here, so I’ve no idea what happens to Clubs/Officials/Players whose behavior is totally unacceptable.
Lengthy stoppages in play are becoming the norm, rather than rarity. This is leading to my question. To my amazement and perhaps because it’s Thailand, there appears to be a rule/arrangement/ agreement that up to 15 minutes is allowed for the ‘problem’ to be resolved after which, if a team refuses to return to the field and play, the game is awarded to the opposition with a 2-0 scoreline. Is this a FIFA rule or something the Thai FA is entitled to initiate?
In my opinion, it just seems an opportunity for somebody ‘to let off steam’. If the problem is to do with the referee (usually is), arguments can be made to the fourth official, the referee’s supervisor or whatever he’s called, but invariably the original decision/actions remain. Indeed, the referee should not change his viewpoint (except with advice from his assistants) because someone is complaining, or because of another official sitting in the stand.

Surprised you got an answer from FIFA, Brian, but I`m sure you won`t get any from Thai FA.
2 more weeks to wait for the next game.
Well, it give me more time to work on the new UDFC-pages in English (stats, history etc).

Thank you Phen, but Svein is very much the lead person here. The wiki site certainly needed updating as, perhaps, the place where people might first look for general info, but Svein also found clubwebsite.co.uk, which appears to allow more freedom on input, without the queries (on sourcing and copyright?) being raised by Wiki. If the information leads to more people, possibly mainly English speakers, taking an interest and attending games, then good for Udon FC.
Perhaps, in recognition of his efforts, the Club will award him an executive box in the new super stadium, whenever. Um, but don't hold your breath, Svein - on the stadium or the box!
I hope I'm wrong in both cases.
Udon are sitting very nicely after the early part of the season, particularly in that the Club hasn't invested too much in the, usually higher quality, foreign players. And the two they do have in the squad, haven't been used in all games. Perhaps it should be noted that Udon's games to date, with one exception, have all been against teams currently in the bottom half of the table. So tougher matches to come, it would appear.
I see one fan posted that the newish Chairman has intentions of returning foreign stars to the Club, presumably in the transfer window, which comes after the mid-season break. We'll see, but if so, that would signal a determined effort to secure a Champions League spot and go for promotion.

Carabao is making a new UDFC-song and will play it live at the homegame vs Nong Khai next week, according to Thai League Football on twitter. I think we can expect a full house...
