Looking forward to visiting again Bubba last week of the month with a good friend of mine from Perth WA, who is retired in Sakhon Nakhon, plenty chilled Belgian beers will be tried!

Wayne I've got Frank's Red Hot if you want to dash that on your Jambalaya. I THINK Frank's started out in LA in the 1920's, but it's been gobbled up by Reckitt Benckiser, a British conglomerate. We use it in our home made BBQ sauce.

Great Nick, haven't seen you in awhile. We've got a gent from about an hour and a half south of Perth that's a good customer. He's heading back to OZ this Sunday though, so wont be able to meet your friend. He's a big Belgian Beer fan also!

Some of my Cajun friends who were in yesterday are familiar with the Slap Ya Mama brand of products. I was not. I am familiar with the little town where they originated, Houma, La. It's about 50 miles southeast of "N'awlins", and home to one of the teams of alligator hunters featured on TV's "Swamp Men". Looks like the lawsuit is well founded, a clear rip off of someone else's hard work. I hope they get millions!

We do indeed use Tony Chachere's seasoning. Thanks in part to our most recent supplier, who is hard at work on an island off OZ. (Hi Ding)

BTW Nick, are you going to be riding into town on some good American made heavy iron?

Just out of the slow cooker after a night of simmering... BBQ PULLED PORK. We now sell as many of these sandwiches as we do burgers. VERY tasty, and only 95 baht, so in everybody's budget.

Tomorrow, Saturday, is Jun's Grandmother's birthday (87, I think). This is one of those "command performance" type things for the Thais. Jun's granny is well known around Nongsamrong Bor Naam village. She had 11 children. Jun's cousins must number in the hundreds (at least it seems that way). I'm continually surprised to see Jun's granny in a wedding photo of someone from that area. Sooooo, we'll be CLOSING AT 6PM tomorrow to attend the obligatory festivities. Not sure if there'll be karoke and dancing ladies for granny or not, some of the uncles are real partiers.

Oops, almost forgot to make a new post to change header as we are NOT closing early today! Almost 300 hits to our thread in the last 24 hours. I guess that last header took some people by surprise, or maybe got others excited.

The fact is, we just signed a new 2 year lease. We are really fortunate to have such great landlords. A prominent Udon couple, the madam owns some sort of insurance company and the husband is a government official. I'm not sure what capacity. Sometimes my wife calls him "mayor", other times she calls him a "sheriff".

Grandma's birthday party was somewhat subdued. The most successful son, Jun's uncle, was not there because he has been promoted from his position in Chiang Mai to be a director for his company in Bangkok. Higher position = less days days off, even in Thailand. =D> Go figure.

Got a real surprise for next week's special.

Our former indoor dining sets were picked up today by the new owner. A special thanks to UM classifieds for their effectiveness... 3 days after posting... SOLD both sets! Definitely a powerful advertising medium here in Udon. I've noticed many other success stories as well. If you've got a quality product for sale and it's priced at market value, you can be reasonably assured of finding a qualified buyer in UM Classifieds.

We found new furniture today. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow. We'll see. At first they told us it would have to be after Songkran. We'll have 4 more covers inside now in air conditioned comfort!

Finally after a few side trips BKK and Pattaya and will be over this week.

Good Morning UDON THANI !

Got our new furniture late yesterday evening, as promised, but not without a little anxiety! TiT

Had a nice day off yesterday at "Play Port", the new water park on the ring road across from the Premium Outlet Mall (which is between Index Living and Home Pro). We don't have kids, so we borrowed a couple for the day (much cheaper that way

). Admission was 396 baht for 2 adults and 2 kids. This included some drink and snack coupons. Beer is available on premises for those who might be interested. Singha cans, 50 baht, reasonable enough.

They were also doing a photo shoot, maybe for an upcoming ad series, with models imported from Bangkok. Only a guess on this last point as they were very light skinned.

Gotta run for now. More later.

A big THANK YOU to members of VFW Post 10249 who chose to drop by for lunch after yesterday's meeting. Always good to see you guys. Glad you enjoyed the specials.

Speaking of specials

This week, and ONLY through Saturday, is a Doozy! Sunday is the beginning of Songkran (more on that later) that's why this is a "short week" for the special.

We're making a MEMPHIS BBQ BURGER, as made famous by the 1.5 MILLION hit youtube video and former Super Bowl commercial featuring Paris Hilton.

We start out with a new Burger Bun locally available (suggested by papaguido on another thread), butter and toast it, add 150g of our pulled pork, then a 200g beef patty, top with a slice of cheddar and some grilled onions. Served with a side of our hot and tangy home made bbq sauce (you wont find anything like this on the shelf!).

Betcha can't finish it all!

Songkran schedule, menu, and specials coming soon. Stay tuned!
