Bathtub Mixer Taps

Post by Chriss » April 12, 2014, 11:33 am

I have a wall mounted mixer tap, similar to below, on one of our baths that needs changing, but before I go look for a replacement can anyone tell me if the distance between the hot and cold inlets is universal or do I need to measure the existing unit.

Thanks all.

Bathtub Mixer Taps

I can't give a definitive answer.....but I switched out our similar type tap about four years ago. I brought the old one to Global and matched it with the one I ended up buying....to be sure female/male parts matched up both in size and location as well as the distance between the two. Most of the bath taps are in boxes and it's easy enough to take one out to compare.
I didn't have a problem finding a replacement....but did find there's a very wide gap between prices. I paid 1640 for the new one.....and after four years, it's as good as new. I could have easily spent several thousand more on a similar....but different brand.

Most good quality mixer bath taps have adjustable connections to meet your needs. But since this is Thailand and the word "standard" doesn't exist I would follow Parrot's advice and take your old one with you.
