Its gonna need a Ronaldo hat trick for this match to be a draw.Mueller made the most of Pepe raising his hand to get him sent off.....a harsh red card,I thought.
Portugal have been b l o o d y awful up to now.
For those not wanting to know the score.....its currently Germany 3 Portugal 0 after 50 minutes. ;)

At what point does MAKING THE MOST of an incident become an a bookable offence ? ... or is it just classed as gamesmanship ............ or cheating to get an opponent sent off therefore gain an advantage ?...just asking

BTW Portugal are playing like Grimesby ......... sh8te .

Final score was Germany 4 Portugal 0.....Mueller 3 and Hummels were the goalscorers.
Portugal were dire and were two down after 30 minutes before Pepe was sent off but both he and Mueller should have got a yellow each for the incident imo.
Germany sent on Podolski for Mueller with 10 minutes to go but,in all honesty, they could have sent Angela Merkel on as Portugal were that bad.....very disappointing game. [-(

I know a lot of people are opposed to video referee's, but not even one week has gone and there have been dubious penalty decisions and sending offs which, if the incidents were viewed for a matter of seconds, would make any decision more decisive and it may, MAY, prevent players from cheating/acting whatever you want to call it. Goal line technology has been brought in to assist referees so why not video. It could make the difference between winning and losing the World Cup.

He wasn`t sent off for the hand in the German`s face, but for the small headbutt after, when the German was sitting down. A correct red card.

What a shocking decision by the referee, the referee had no idea how to control the game with authority, that was no red card unless you live in hollywood, all players go done like they have been shot, the penalty was dubious as both players where holding on,the ref wasn't only shocking he was getting in the way, what happend to not touching the referee that was always the case when i played, over paid actors.

That would have been the highlight of the tournament. Kind of scarey. If FIFA permitted that they might let Rolf Harris have one last stretch of his legs as well for perhaps the English? Or for the Australians? Any really old guy playing for Argentina would probably be Lord Lucan.

Germans looking very good. That's a wind up for the Brits. England looking good. That's a wind up for the Aussies.

Iran 0 Nigeria 0.....the first draw of the tournament and appears to have been well worth missing.
Ghana 1 USA 2....Well done to the Americans.Clint Dempsey put them ahead after just 27 seconds but as the game wore on Ghana upped the pressure and looked to have secured a least a draw in the 82nd minute with a good strike.
America looked tired but Brooks headed in the winner just 4 minutes later, from a corner, and they held on for a win not many would have expected at the start of play.

Tonights/tomorrow mornings matches.....
Belgium v Algeria 11pm
Brazil v Mexico 2am Wednesday morning
South Korea v Russia 5am Wednesday morning

Have a nice da,y'all.....missing you already.

Serious question to the experts,

Do you feel the game results are going as expected nearing the end of round 1? I don't think there have been any favourites in the losing column. But I don't follow it to close but do show an interest since Australia are playing?
Maybe Spain was a shock and not to script but not the others?
Will a winner of the cup be amongst the current winners list?

Theres been a couple of shocks so far.....Spain 1 Netherlands 5 (as mentioned) and Uruguay 1 Costa Rica 3.
Also,a couple of surprises....Ghana 1 USA 2 and,possibly,Switzerland 2 Ecuador 1.
But early days yet.....
Maybe the biggest shock of all coming up at 11pm Wednesday night (Thai time) if Australia beat the Netherlands.
Latest odds....Netherlands 1/4......Draw 6/1......Australia 14/1
Maybe worth putting 20 Australian dollars on a Socceroos victory ?

As promised socksy here are DM's predictions for today's games ...

Belgium win

Brazil win ,,, this one is gonna be niggly with a strong referee required tho i feel the Brazilians will get the more favourable calls and nick it with another dubious decision or two and penalty included in this one for sure....would love to see Mexico win tho !!

South Korea v Russia ... tough one to call so im gonna go for a draw .

In the words of Meatloaf, DM this time round "two out of three ain't bad" and I was surprised who let you down for a 100% prediction.

"Meanwhile back on Aberdeen beach the Scottish national squad are on a WC bonding trip planning their next big tournament qualification strategy ... Rab C Nesbit the new coach and his number two Billy Connolly stated ..hoots man were up for this one ... now pass me a Tenents and the Map WTF is Kartar" ?

Almost right - Rab is actually the fitness coach and has encouraged the players to take up smoking to enhance their chances for Catarrh.

Regards DM

Belgium 2 Algeria 1......Belgium made hard work of beating a well organised defensively Algerian side.Algeria took a shock lead in the 25th minute when Vertonghen gave away a stupid penalty and then sat back as the Belgians struggled to create an opening. It smacked of desperation when Fellaini came on as a sub in the 65th minute, and went into the centre forwards role, but Belgium were rewarded within 5 minutes when Fellaini equalised with a good header.Indeed Fellainis height and muscular presence unsettled the Algerians and the keeper had to make a great save to deny the big man a second goal. The second goal arrived 10 minutes later when Mertens crashed home a good shot from inside the area. There was no way back for Algeria but for two thirds of the match Belgium, with their array of Premiership stars, were unconvincing.
Brazil 0 Mexico 0.....Mexico's keeper made some excellent saves but Brazil were very disappointing.Mexico had a couple of great chances to actually win the game and matched the hosts for long periods.Fred, the Brazilian striker, was woeful and it says it all when Jo,the Everton and Man City reject, looked a cut above.
Russia 1 South Korea 1.....If Mexico's keeper was the star of the show,Russias certainly wasnt with a howler that gave South Korea the lead in the 68th minute but, fortunately for him,the Russians equalised soon afterwards.South Koreas players looked dead on their feet but managed to hang on for a draw.

Tonights/tomorrow mornings games....
Australia v Netherlands 11pm.....a must win for the Aussies but....
Spain v Chile 2am Thursday morning......likewise,a must win for the World champions.
Cameroon v Croatia 5am Thursday morning...same again, whoever loses is out of the tournament.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
