Maybe Woy could explain his tactics like this and you never know it may wear off.

england out , no surprise , what do you expect from a team coached by a trainer , whom had all ready so many problems keeping the teams he coached into the epl .., so in this case a good trainer would have done miracles , but changing key players whom were performing well, in critical moments, was a big mistake...also many other so called big teams are overrated , this surely includes brazil , were the ego of the players is much bigger than the football they perform ...
this go's for other teams too...
maybe all these superstars should stop floating and come back to earth to play some real football ....
i was surprised by the australians whom have given holland a real run for their money ...i do not believe at all america is even near as good and will not make it ..., best teams to me on till now are holland and germany ,i think this year it will be a lottery of the winning team to be lucky to play a good game at that moment and keep holland or germany of the victory ... ;)

Some of the fans overate their teams as well, thinking because it is the game they play at home that they think they must be the best. Yes when the best players are playing in one competition it is the best competition to watch, but when the sheep are separated from the goats and placed in their groups we are seeing what happens. Some poor performances.

Here we are on day 9 or 10 of the WC ( i think )...and its been very exiting with lots of good games and goals ,,, only 2 real dull bad matches so far and although some fancied well supported teams have and will bite the dust ,,, HOWEVER lets put this into prespective ..ITS ONLY A GAME ...not life n death and with all the crap occuring on the planet nowadays it should be taken just as that .

Now DM's predictions ...averaging 2 out of three correct per day so here goes .

Italy WIN
France WIN
As for the last game Honduras v Equador ... not a clue so DRAW.

See you on the other side .

Perhaps England just needs to add a few players from a dismal side, for example...maybe Scunthorpe, to inject a sense of realism and hope and determination. The players from the major teams are not doing well, so let the little, hapless guys show them how to win.

Indeed LYM ... the hapless dismal Scunthorpe Utd ... PROMOTED LAST SEASON ON THE BACK OF A 28 MATCH UNBEATEN RUN .... too many obscenely over paid premadonnas , prancers n divers so why not chuck in a few hapless minnows in to show em how its supposed to be done .

Back in the real world ... i can see Woy jacking after the Costa Rica game and its back to square one trying to find another ENGLISHMAN to take the job that nay buggar really wants except for the cash that is .

Hey its only a game ......... isnt it ??

Only a game...only a game. To call it such is a mockery. It is much more than a game. This is plain to see when Englishmen hide at home behind a sofa afraid to venture outdoors owing to the humiliation they experience when their team has let the country down once again.

As for the run by Scunny Town, I guess it was due because when you are on the bottom of the table year after year there is nowhere else to go but up. Good on them just the same.

The following is a very valid critique of English football, although it focuses on Rooney (the white 'Pele'), and all that is wrong with it. It draws some nice comparisons to football as played on the continent and the maturity of a player like Pirlo of Italy.

England's World Cup hopes were dashed this afternoon when the Azzuri refused to play their assigned role and fell to Costa Rica by a 1-0 count. Ouch!

Interesting article Lann Yaa Mo. I have also read the English FA is happy with Hodgson despite Hodgson seeming to have goaded Suarez into being psychologically primed for the big game. Besides also not being prepared for Italy, Hodgson and the English also don't seem to have rated Uruguay very highly.

It's hard to know what's really happening. If Rooney had been out chasing girls the evening before he might have played much better. If he'd had all the advantages of Eton may be he would have developed into the White Pele. Eton seems to work miracles with the moderately talented in propelling them into high office.

They slipped up with Gazza too.

The writer of the article, John Doyle, is the tv critic for the newspaper, but he has a healthy regard, passion and love for football so the Globe and Mail unleashes him to write World Cup articles every four years.

Italy 0 Costa Rica 1......a big surprise but Costa Rica thoroughly deserved their win.It should have been more emphatic but they were denied a clear cut penalty.Italy were poor but Costa Rica earned their right to progress to the knockout stages.
So its goodbye England. After their final match against Costa Rica in midweek its time to fly home on their special chartered Malaysian Airlines jet.
Switzerland 2 France 5.....an absolute massacre, more emphatic than the scoreline suggests as France were 5-0 up with just 7 minutes to go.Switzerland werent helped by the loss of a central defender after just 9 minutes and the sight of Senderos coming on as a substitute is always worth 2 goals to the opposition. But,that said,France were very impressive.
Honduras 1 Ecuador 2....Enner Valencia scored two as Ecuador came from behind to beat Honduras.Costly opened the scoring in the 31st minute for Honduras but Valencia equalised just 3 minutes later and grabbed the winner midway through the second half.Apparently,Newcastle,Everton and Spurs have shown interest in the Ecuadorian star who has netted 6 times in his last 5 games for his country.Second spot in this group looks to be between Ecuador and the Swiss.

Tonights/tomorrow mornings matches......
Argentina v Iran 11pm Saturday night
Germany v Ghana 2am Sunday morning
Nigeria v Bosnia-Hercegovina 5am Sunday morning

Too late now but wondering if Hodgson regrets not taking Jermaine Defoe to the finals. Maybe 'Mooney's' high profile at Man Utd was too much to resist. Almost AWOL in both games.

I'd be interested in knowing how much the Costa Rican XI earn a year in their football compared the Italian XI. Would the Italians earn 5 times as much?

The website "This is Money" suggests that the top European players earn more in a week than the Costa Rican players do in a year. There will be exceptions such as Bryan Ruiz who has played in the Eredivisie and also the Premiership for Fulham......maybe he would be on 25-30k GBP per week but your average player for Costa Rica would be on between 3-5k per week,I would think ? :-k

Nah..! England are stuck with Woy until after the European Championship as no one else wants the job, particularly as it would cost the FA 6 million pounds to let him go.
