Using my head, not my emotional preferences;

Brazil v Chile. No boner, BRAZIL.
Columbia v Uruguay. COLOMBIA, even without the Uraguan FA, the coach, et al ill advisedly criticising FIFA
Netherland v Mexico. NETHERLANDS.Prior to the internal strife, I felt Mexico had a real chance.
Costa Rica v Greece. COSTA RICA. However did Greece progress to this stage?
France v Nigeria. FRANCE. He forecast, with doubt in his voice. Could Nigerias' style intimidate France

Germany v Algeria. Germany. Provided the players don't get confused by the unpredictable play of the Algerians

Argentina v Switz'd. Argentina.Would be more confident if Aquero was playing.Could this be THE upset?
Belgian v USA. Belgian. Back to the real world, with the luck finally running out for the USA.

So, in the extremely unlikely event all my forecasts being realised, the quarter finals would be as set out below, with Costa Rica being the only real surprise, in my opinion.
Brazil v Columbia
France v Germany.
Netherlands v Costa Rica.
Argentina v Belgian

I would go with all of your predictions there M80 ... the only one i can see a possible difference is the Belgium / USA ,,, ive got a sneaky feeling the Americans may slip thru if they can reproduce the form they showed against Portugal .

And yes Statto Howard Webb .....i rest my case Brazil will win with him on their side .

No way Costa Rica beats France unless the French stink out the joint. Costa Rica was in the weakest of the groups and beat Uruguay when that team did not have what's-his-name. I am going with Holland to beat Mexico but the hot tamales could be a team that goes on and on and on. Let's see how Chile does vs. Brazil. It should be a good game.

I would like to see a Germany-Netherlands final but this thing is played in South America so Brazil-Argentina is more likely.

Oh! Costa Rica plays Greece. In that case, this game could go on and on and on until our solar system explodes. I think I will go with Greece but I have little confidence in their ability to score.

Now that you are clear about which teams actually play each other, let me clarify something else for you. The Americans "luck" doesn't need to run out. We haven't needed it. A more "rational" position to take would be to say that the US was unlucky not be on 6 points after their second match.
