Longterm saving account for children

Post by Teddy » August 6, 2014, 9:53 pm

We would like to set up a saving account for our Baby/Toddler. My idea was that the contract should last about 20 years.

The investment should have
- low risk of losing money
- payments would be made monthly or per year
- high return on Investment :D

Does anyone have an idea where I can get something like that.

A low risk and a high return? You'd need to deal with a snake oil salesman to get that combination. There will plenty of those characters in Bangkok bars that could offer you something along those lines. They might even throw in a rumble with a young Isan lady or two to help secure the deal. Nothing old JR Ewing wouldn't have done to seal a deal.

buy abit of dirt, a section or rai or whatever ( not a house ) for her now...lease it out, or whatever..in 20yrs she will make far more money than any other investment, and you dont have to worry about share markets, bad dividends, etc etc, and it gives her the option to live on her land come 20yrs old, or when she is ready to settle down and have a family, she wont have to rely on anyone else, or fork out an arm and a leg to purchase a 2034 bit of land...

You haven't stated what country, But I presume its Thailand, you need to look at the laws also, as to when the child can legally gain the deposit, does the account have to be in joint names , is it yours as well , then make sure your will covers that also,

Investments world wide for now, are still getting over GFC and emerging markets looking ok, BUT low investment and high returns, then The Nigerian Bank of 497 Sukhumvit Road will gladly assist you with some feathered brain scheme.

The best investment scheme you can have in Thailand now, is to be somehow on the preferred tenderers for the Fast Train project, Billions of $ to be spent and lots of pockets to be lined with facility fees, consultancy's , lots of overseas trips to review comparative projects,
