That's a bit personal, Aardy. You're going to be a hoot on speed dating night if you come out with one liners like that.

Back on topic:

People here keep referring to Tukgeres (Thai spelling - ตุ๊กแก ?) and Geckos but I always thought they were the same thing.

I've always called the smaller ones, Chit Chats (from Cyprus) or Jing Jots (Thai spelling จิ้งจก).

You should keep both in the house despite their toilet habits and ability to affect home electronics - they have a job to do.

Here's another piece of equipment you might add to your arsenal. :-k

I looked at this on Amazon ($9.95) and most reviews say it's totally crap, however another gadget ($35.99) looked a lot more stable. Guess you get what you pay for..

Thanks for the tip...time to get the old thinkin' cap on and drag out some bamboo.

On second thought, if there at the top (5.5m) I'll need the trusty ole pellet shooter. :-"

Hungry house cats love geckos. As for mynas, they will fly right into your kitchen and eat anything on the counter, leaving nasty wet ---- behind. Mynas are the bird equivalent of kudzu vines, totally upset the balance of things.

Get a cat, sterilize it and give it just enough food to survive and your gecko numbers go down

Any chance you gleaned that from Dick Cheney's memoir?

lol there's less of a chance of a me reading his memoir than a gecko surviving my house cats

recall the first bungalow i rented on samui many years ago now, there was a massive tokay hiding behind my door. i went in search of a broom to redirect him outside and apparently i left the front door open. the neighborhood cat followed me in and had that tokay around the neck in under a minute. i had only wanted to get it outside so it didn't keep me up at night.

It's sorta common sense:

If you have lots of geckos, it's because there is lots of food for them to eat. I'd rather have geckos than roaches. That said, our home is well sealed (have central air), but there are always 2-3 geckos around downstairs and 1-2 upstairs. They certainly earn their keep and are welcome. I rarely ever see roaches or crickets. Nature is self-regulating. Make that b***h work! ;)

A stray cat appointed herself our guardian protector since 2+ months ago and controls the snakes and geckos outside. She certainly earns her keep and so I reward her with a hearty meal of cat food in the mornings to keep her around, but let her stay hungry at night so she continues to hunt. Works great!

That said, she recently had a litter of 3 girls. They just finished weening and I would much rather give them away to a good home rather than the plans I currently have for them. When they are old enough, I'll drive them out to a dirty looking village somewhere with lots of vermin and release them. PM me if you want one. The mother is an awesome hunter and female felines are naturally better hunters than males.
Enjoy this site much more by adding idiots to your ignore list (Friends & Foes tab).

If the little gecko turds upset you, just think how many little aggravating insects those little guys ate to make those turds. I have told my wife that many times and she still tries to kill them. The tookgaes have big turds and those come from eating little geckos.

I think if you cant stand geckos consider Iceland or Greenland a new destination, but expect the mossy situation to be extremely hazardous during the summer, it will soon make geckos seem a far better alternative
