I went to a superb restaurant the other night but for the like of me cannot remember the name,i think it could be called The Seat or The Chair.
On a main road with other big restaurants,on a raised wooden platform, got a band, beautiful waitresses.Chatted to the owner who has a big jaguar car.

You may be talking about Seats. It is on the ring road to the west of Nong Khai Hwy? Dunno about the owners Jaguar, but they have two sets of waitresses, one 'normal' in jeans and collared shirt, and one wearing short-shorts, tight white t's, and CFM shoes.

Decided to try Seat Restaurant Saturday night after reading a few reviews from forum members. The food was pleasant but IMHO not spectaclar with very reasonable pricing. Diner for two w/o alcohol less than 600baht. Live music was nice and not ear splitting loud. The little scantily clad servers in their little red hot pants, (are they still called hot pants?) were very attentive much to my better half's chagrin but very much to my delight  .... Certainly worth another visit.

Could someone explain exactly where Seat Restaurant is as I'll be in Udon this Sunday and would like to give it a try.

Thanks in advance.

If it is 'The Seat' then the quality of food has gone down. I eat there the other night and I have eaten better food at stalls in town.

That is a problem we have had there too...not just with Seats, but with most Thai restaurants. Sometimes it is excellent, sometimes it is good, and sometimes it is not so good. Consistency seems to be a farang concept to Thai restauranteurs.

Of the 4 times we've gone, 1 was excellent, 2 were good, and 1 was not good. A friend went exactly once, and said he would never go back due to bad service and lousy food that did not make up for the great view. ;) TiT...ya roll the dice and takes your chances.

Went there last night. Food was average. Service good. Eye candy, good. Band good according to the wife. Price, OK.

The increase in the number of attractive eaterys located in the Lake Prajack area is very satisfying. About eight years ago, on my first visit to UdonThani, I stayed at Jan Condotel which is about a hundred meters from the lake. This is my choice of residence during following stays. Other than a few good Thai restaurants I found only Good Everything within walking distance or a short ride. Now I am aware of perhaps a dozen or more situated nearby that appeal to the foreign patron. This forum has been most useful in identifying and describing the restaruants and bars that are likely to improve my enjoyment of visiting Udon Thani. :D

I'm wary of going to a restaurant that has a 'help wanted - cook' sign hanging out front. I've seen quite a few. I can deal (sort of) with not so quick service....but I like my food delicious.......every time I go out to eat.

I'd up and leave if I saw this lot coming on. Not to my taste but I'm sure it will be to others.
