According to the prime minister, the visiting UK police team, just before they left to return to Scotland Yard, told him that the Royal Thai Police had conducted an exemplary investigation.
He said the British police said the Thai police did exactly as they would have done in the case. He said the British police said it was clear that they (the British police) and the Thai police had studied from "the same textbooks".
1. He is a blatant liar.
2. The Thai Government tells the Thai and World press stuff that the UK FO and Police did NOT say.
3. Pass the bucket quick, i need to puke...

Well that is at variance of what I was told, but the British Plod would never talk about it to the press ( neither will I, I will not break a confidence ) that is not their job, they went to observe and report back, that is what they did and will do. Maybe the fireworks will start later, but don't hold your breath, let the diplomats do the diplomatic two step not that the Thais would ever admit anything is wrong anyway, not their style.
A cock-up well and truly cocked - up, and we have two poor migrants hoping not to do the shake rattle and roll .

Scandalous. FFS the future of the Police Service in the UK is in serious sh*te if that's the case. I fear it is currently sh*te in any case as the hierarchy within are too scared to rock the boat for their job safety, political correctness and the HRA.

Nope and again nope, I gave my word and my word is my bond, so lump it and just accept it. If you do not like, do you think for one moment GT that I give a damn what YOU think.
The simple facts are that they went they have returned and they will report after that it is ion the hands of the British Politicians as the Thai Govt made it clear look no touchy OK. In my mind rather pointless going but one had to show the flag and it has raised awareness internationally, so one could say it has does the trick, they ( RTP ) cannot just be judge and jury they have to be proven to be guilty and the RTP have having a problem at that.

Oh! ............. such disappointment. Knowing we have a source on UM with all the right contacts in high places, but still unable to share even a tidbit with us.

Such admirable stoicism. It must be a heavy weight on your shoulders KP, to know you have so much to share, but duty, and bond, unfortunately prevent you from doing so.

Sigh. :?

No weight, I found out purely by chance and told never to repeat it, so I won't . After years working for HMG keeping quiet comes as second nature. It is interesting to note however that today there is a newspaper report requesting the Thai Police be removed from the investigation due probably to conflict of interests.

Come on KP you big tease. The British police and many other police forces have a history of leaking likes sieves.

There are many other arms of the government that do observe confidentiality unlike the Police.

What happens if the report compiled by the, 'old bill', shows that they have enough prima facie evidence to bring charges against those locals who have been in the spotlight during this case? Can they apply to extradite suspects and try them under British law, as the victims were British, or do they have to turn the report over to the BIB and just see if they act upon the information, as the crime happened in Thailand?
