Accommodation close to Suvarnabhumi Airport & Sky Train

Post by Jet » November 18, 2014, 7:06 pm

Hi guys - my family and I will be back for our annual 2 months Sakon Nakhon break. We're staying in Bangkok for 4 nights on our way to Udon & 4 nights on our way home - although as we're arriving late and leaving early it really means 2 days / 4 nights.
Anyone got any suggestions re reasonably nice hotels close to Suvarnabhumi Airport but within an easy walk to the skytrain, restaurants, 7/11 etc. We also want transfers each way.
Last year we stayed in 2 different hotels which were fine except for the fact they were tucked away, a good hike to the sky train, and with pretty limited facilities unless you walked for 15 - 20 minutes.
I don't won't to go too overboard price wise but I'm pretty comfortable with 800 - 1,200 baht per night. The ones we stayed at last year were only 400 - 500 baht per night with breakfast, transfers & they'd run you to the sky train but too far off the beaten track and I expect the reason they were only around the 400 Baht mark. Nice enough but just too far away from the 7/11 if you felt like a couple of beers or on the spur of the moment felt like nipping into Bangkok.

Thanks in advance for any help, Geoff.

http://www.thongtaresortandspa.com is where I stay and it's a lovely little place within a few minutes of the airport with free shuttle day or night. Here's a list of others and you can follow them on booking.com, agoda.com or see their individual websites. Good Luck!

I think you'll get a much better rate here on booking.com. I like booking.com over agoda.com because they don't charge your credit card. They only use it to secure your booking in case you don't show up, but you work out the payment arrangements when you check-in. Agoda charges the credit card immediately.

Used booking.com for 1st time a couple of weeks ago for a stay in Bkk. Was a bit rushed at the time of booking so was caught out when I arrived and was asked for payment, had assumed it was already taken.

BTW Crystal Suites hotel, 10 mins from Swampy, fantastic new hotel with big clean rooms and nice pool.

Agoda is far better, you can even choose to pay just before you arrive at the hotel and at least you know that you have a room and can use a credit card.

I stayed few times at Nasa Vegas. 50m to 7/11, 50 m to Rail link and with that either to Suwa or Phaya Thai BTS. Very good kitchen and no need to go out, if tired. Paid 525 thb for room.

We stayed here in March this year for 2 days. Great place, fantastic breakfast and a cool pool. I believe closest to the airport (situated between the runways) but not disturbing. Regular shuttles service 24/7.

We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now

Just returned from a trip to the USA....stayed at Thong Ta going and coming. We stayed in their new rooms both times, paid standard room price (cheapest), yet the rooms were very delux in size and comfort. The best deal....by far....for us with Thong Ta is the transportation to/from the airport that is included in the room rate. There's a resort rep at Exit Door 4 of the arrivals floor always awaiting incoming pax with reservations. The resort is a mere 10 minutes away....7/11 and lots of eating choices 200m away. Quiet. It's a deal!

That can be a problem
some are paid others have to pay at hotel
you really need to read the details each time you book rather than assuming

I'm staying at grand center point ploenchit right now. It's my go to Bangkok hotel. Directly on bts and a 5 min walk to my embassy. Only problem is it's a pricey area so no mom and pop shops around and 7-11 won't sell beer until 5
