The chefs name at the City Lodge is Andy....keen golfer and Man Utd fan.
If it was closed when you went,it must have only been a temporary thing.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

the answer to that one is simple, go and buy in the super at low cost, then simply place in the mini bar and enjoy a cheaper coke, or drink the one out of the mini bar then replace with one out of the super when you go out.

Irish Clock wrote:recreates the ambiance of an authentic Irish pub
Hmmm, went to the Clock yesterday and yes,the food is good, but a place more lacking in atmosphere you could not find.I have been to many, many pubs in Ireland and the mood is amazing. You certainly do not feel like you are in the hussle and bustle of an Irish pub in the Irish clock. It feels cold and lacks any character due to lack of punters.Kind of like a set on a stage with no players,it has no life.
Just trying to help the locals

Here in Udon, the bars and restaurants are not busy all the time. Hence, the lack of hustle and bustle at the time that you were there. I was there yesterday, around 7:00 PM and it was quite busy.

Bear in mind that the current owner of the Clock has been there for only a bit over a month now. Takes a while to build up a good following.

pace of life

even in a busy city in europe i doubt you will find the so called hustle and bustle 24/7 with prices going throw the roof
and as thailand is so far from ireland you dont get many pepole digging up the roads
so sit back and enjoy been able to get served without figting your way to the bar
and try going out of happy hour hours ie night time

I think it is more the cliental or customer base that is reason for the lack of festive bar atmosphere. Most living here are older and retired than your usually pub atmosphere in western world. If like myself, I go there to eat and leave, say hi to Steve, one of the only owner/managers I actually talk to, and usually short. I don

Went to the Irish Clock last night with the gf.

Had Sunday roast and the better half had sausage and mash. Both were fantastic - especially the roast.

Met the new manager and wife - both very nice and helpful along with all the new staff.

Also there were quite a few people in there so it had a good atmosphere.

All in all a much nicer place than before and I would recommend anyone to go there.

Popped in this evening for a fine meal, was think shepard or cottage pie, not really sure what they are, meat veggie, one lamb, one beef i think, but was influenced by the sunday roast advert. went with the roast beef, served with potatoes/cabbage/carrots/broccoli, and that pudding thing (yorkshire or something). of course all to expectations, steak knife provided, butter knife would of been fine or not need either, no slicing involved, just pulling to make smaller pieces. a tasty dish.

service prompt and courteous as usually.

on that other issue, on entry, 3 tables open, positioned myself in an appropiate spot, next to table of like thinking. seems every table was indulging, at least 50 % of customers, but all systems working, and to my surprise, didn't notice a thing, and i'm good. quite a few regulars, one festive table, nice atmosphere. may have add it back on the monthly/bi monthly schedule.
