"Man Size" heavy duty Tissues?

Post by ZARguy » January 9, 2015, 1:38 pm

I guess this is a bit trivial but..
No guy uses hankies anymore (are they even sold), and back home I use what they call "Man Size" tissues by Ponds. Great not only for ones nose but handy for wiping your hands since us guys are always fiddling around with things!
Problem is I havent seen anything similar in the shops here and my gf had no idea what I meant.
Closest is kitchen paper towels which are a bit coarse if you really have a cold! Ladies tissues are a waste of time for a guy!

"No guy uses hankies anymore" :-s

Yes hankies are sold all over Udon ...... although they are about 3/4 the size of Western equivalent.
Not a suprise really seeing as almost everything seems to be about 3/4 size from size XL in clothes to "Western" toilets.

Any bloomin' tissue, man size or not are a waste of time if you want to wipe the swe ... perspiration from your eyes

Allegedly their 'Boris Becker's' are smaller as well so they won't need 'man size' if they have a five finger shuffle. If you know where I'm coming from. Oh no please!

Allegedly that is also the reason for the smaller size toilets here socksy. They don't need to hold it up out of the water when they are sitting down reading the paper ......... :-"

Never had the need for nose wipe tissue, but for minor messes I keep baby wipes in the car and motorbike under seat compartment....

Errrr.,..... a bit hard to fit in the pocket, Jumbo - particularly if you are wearing tight, slimline jeans.

You can buy almost any size tissues ( unless you have an enormous conk ) to use, you can even buy paper on a very large roll for those men type jobs you need a tissue for , a bit large to tote around. handkerchiefs by the ton in shops that sell mens apparel, in fact after someone mentioned it, I don't often see Thasi using tissues ( Thai ladies ...yes ) but men NO, but then you often see a man blowing nose onto the ground , expressing the mucous, so that some-one else can walk over it thereby assisting in the dissipation of said unwanted muck all over Udon Thani. ( a truly disgusting habit I find ) . Seek and ye shall surely find.

A local aternative. Let one fingernail grow long - no tissues required. I'm told it also helps to extract zits whilst looking in you motorcycle mirror.

I wouldn't say Ladies KP but I regularly see female gender gobbing in the street. Totally disgusting.

"Man Size" heavy duty Tissues?

Thanks for all the amusing comments guys - guess I should have expected soemthing of the sort haha.

Back home I am a big user of paper towels around the kitchen, general cleaning or oiling, and for other jobs. Great for cleaning things with or turpentine or meths (methylated spirits), with added purple, bad-tasting dye. You also get a more economical half size version which is available here and I am using those in the kitchen and yes could use that for the nose too if necessary. My gf treats then as if they are gold-oplated,and wont use them, I guess its rather a luxury for her.

The reason I use the HD tissues for me are:
1. Larger and stronger, One can last most of the day (unless I have a cold).
Ladies, one, blow and throw away, which of course might be more hygenic!
2. A box lasts me a whole month
3. I suffer from an allergy in Cape Town which makes my eyes run most of the time and nose follows suit. Its just water, so a HD tissue is fine and its softer. Ordinary paper towels are harsher on the nose, and if you are blowing it or dabbing your eyes every 5 minutes you will very soon apprecaie the softer version.

I havent noticed anyone here using a hankie or tissue yet. Its drummed into us from childhood if a sneeze is coming move heavan and earth to get the hankie or tissue, or failing that, your hand , in place first. But perhaps not here! I've told my gf that back in RSA ladies use a tisue, but so far no change, I guess its their socially accepted behaviour. Hopeing the pennny wil drop one day when she lives there and sees what others do.

Yes, I have seen spitting in the street, plus a guy on a bike stopping to urinate right in front of our front door, couldn'g he have just moved a little out of sight. That is again something drummed into us, not in public, failing a dire emergency or you are under 7 (or perhaps over 70 and bladder control is weak, or you are a homeless person.

I had to have the TURP prostate op some years ago so I know what its like - when your prostate presses on the bladder, when you gotta go you gotta go! Driving to work was a stressfull experience. Always had to keep in mind where the nearest public toilets were. Havihg the op was not pleasant but nade a huge difference to my life.
Well I am far off topic now, so better stop.
If I can worek out how to post a photot here I'll take one of one of these tissues so you can see the difference.(paper towels are only 1 layer thgick, these are 2 or 3).
