2nd-hand guitar wanted to buy
Staying in Sawang Den Din for 3 months. Missing my guitar! Have you got an unused one just sitting there that you dont play? if you want to sell it I Am interested in buying a good 6 or 12 string but not too expensive (ie not top-class). An old Yamaha would be nice! SDD or Udon area. Dont have a car but could take bus to Udon. Photo and info first please.

Hey, are there no musical ex-pats in the area, or are you all still actively using your guitars?
If there are, as an alternative to used, what would a mid-range 6-string cost new?

I've only ever played an acoustic guitar - actually a 12-string for most of my life - so it slipped my mind to mention!

2nd-hand guitar wanted to buy
Hey there,
Saw 2 stores selling secondhand guitars of good and known lesser make.
The first one is a complete stores selling musical instruments along Udon Dutsadi Road, just after Landmark on your left if you come from the clock tower roundabout.
The other one is along Phosri Road, on your right if you are travelling towards the city. It's a small jamming studio. You can spot it by looking out for a long table on the outside displaying jeans and polo shirts.
Hope it helps
Regards

2nd-hand guitar wanted to buy
Good day,
Personally, I would buy almost every other things through the internet but a musical instrument especially, a guitar is something that I would not as not only how it looks is enough for me.
I need to be comfortable when I cradle it and most importantly, how it sounded when strummed by me.
Everybody have a unique force and sweep of strumming even if it's played with the same technique with same guitar. No 2 person can make an exact equivalent sound on the same guitar. Thus the feel is important.
Well, I'm no professional just a few chord guitar player...hahaha. But I need to feel that...oomph! It's personal.
Anyway, send me a PM with your number and I can drive you around and check out some stores and make comparison while you are town.
I'm tempted to perhaps, even get one for myself. It's been a long long time since I last played one:)
In the meantime, I will drive around the city tomorrow and commit the places to memory. Will PM you updates.

Agree with you Dreamcatcher/ The way it feels ans sounds is most important it must just feel right.
I dont have much experience withe different guitars. I've always bought 12-strinfs except for a single nylon string and perhaps my very first cheap guitar. Current is an Aria I think. But for here a 6-string is OK.
My current guitar I've has since the 80's I think but only play occasionally. Last year I experienced a bad ear infection which has permanently damaged the frequency discrimination in my right ear and I already had age-related hearing loss in both. Never had a good voice but liked to sing folk songs but now its difficult without auditory feedback. Same for the guitar.
I wanted the make and model of the one in the ad as my brither-in-law is a professional musician, repairs them as well, and has about 20 good guitars in his collection including a Martin and severa Fenders, Gibsons, Takamini, Yamaha and so on.
If I could tell him the make he could tell me all about how they make them and which models are good.
Money is a limiting factor, it's just for messing arund here, and I am not a rich Fallang by any means!
But if you feel like doing the rounds of the guitar shops I would appreciate it very much.
Will PM you with number and my schedule.

Just an idea - have you considered buying an Isaan instrument called a "phin". They are three strings and diatonic. They may be more suitable for you because you have hearing problems. You'd be able to buy a good one for far less money than a decent guitar and you could impress the locals
My own interest in music has prompted me to buy a second hand keyboard and a brand new autoharp and I am making progress with both.

Thanks for all suggestions but we ran out of time to look at the guitar shops.
However yesterday when I was looking for a hardware store in Sawang Den Din I noticed a small shop selling all kinds of instruments and will have a look there soon.
It's in the Main Road, R22, about the centre of town, and very close to the 7-11, not far also from the Post Office.
Only have just under a month left so may not be worth it now, but will keep in mind for next visit.
