l recently made a trip across the ditch and whilst engaging the locals in conversation l inadvertantly met GT93's driving instructor. He told the story of when GT93 was learning to drive he asked GT93 if he could make a U turn anywhere along the straight stretch of road up ahead. Apparently GT93 developed a sheepish look and responded to the instructor, "do you want me to make it's eyes water as well" Good luck to both nations on Sunday and looking forward to a nail biter as per the Kiwis V South Africa S/F.

Didn't end up buying one of those re-sale Indian tickets for the final today as the only decent seats left were $300 plus. So it's the idiot box with a few vb's. Best of luck to the 22 lucky fellas who get to grace the hallowed turf on such a big day. Hope it's a great game and of course I hope the Aussies have a win.
About an hour before the start of play and the weather is beautiful. A lovely autumn day with a very light southerly breeze, hardly a cloud in the sky and the temperature around 23c.
Hope all cricket fans enjoy the game but that those following the green and gold get to enjoy it just a little more.

What was Mc Cullum thinking. Kiwi's have played the Ace card first up and been trumped by the joker.

No pleasure in that. If it wasn't all over in the first over then it was pretty well wrapped up when Taylor, Anderson and Ronchi were out within an over and a half on about 35 overs. Poor old Kiwi's didn't give a yelp today but the Aussie boys bought their A game and just steamrolled til the end. Highlight was Stark's first over - his first ball to McCallum did him for pace as did the ball that bowled him - absolutely top shelf. As so often happens in sport the team that gets up in the nail-biting semi final has nothing left in the tank on the big day. WC champions 5 times! Can't knock that but the walk in the park was an anti climax today. Hope the up coming ashes is more of a contest

They (the Poms) were like rabbits in the spotlight with Johnson last year. How are they going to cope with him, together with his young and quicker brother, Starc?
ps I saw the ECB boss, Giles Clarke, interviewed during the game today. Not impressed.

AUSTRALIANS may be celebrating another Cricket World Cup triumph this morning, but the sentiment around the globe is one of disappointment.
While no one is taking away from how Michael Clarke’s men performed with bat and ball in hand, it was the sledging that left a sour taste in the mouth of the neutrals.
It was said time and again heading into Sunday’s final that New Zealand was representing the planet as it vied to take down the Australians on their home turf at the MCG.

What sledging? Didn't notice any apart from Haddin giving the bloke that made 250 against the nobodys a round of applause after he missed a straight slow one and both the South African Kiwi and the Aussie Kiwi copped a gobful for being turncoats and crap batsmen. When the great Kiwi, Ian Smith, was in commentary he tried to bag Haddin for sledging but every time he opened his massive pie hole a wicket fell and everyone laughed at him
We went very gently on the poor little kiwis compared how we give it to the the Poms, South Africans and Indians but after McCallum's massive choke in the first over it was obvious that there was too much heat in the cauldron for our little brother's across the Tasman. Yesterday the Kiwi's were putrid and the shame of it is that South Africa would have given the 93,000 at the ground and those watching around the world a better show and may have even beaten us.
The Big Show got it right but he was just a few weeks early

Australia's World Cup winning wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has defended his sledging in the World Cup final against New Zealand, saying the Kiwis "deserved it".
"They were that nice to us in New Zealand and we were that uncomfortable," Haddin told Triple M in Sydney.
"I said in the team meeting: 'I can't stand for this any more. We're going at them as hard as we can.'
It was that uncomfortable. All they were was that nice to us for seven days.
"I said, 'I'm not playing cricket like this. If we get another crack at these guys in the final I'm letting everything [out].' "
New Zealand's Martin Guptill, Grant Elliott and Dan Vettori each received hefty send-offs, with Haddin involved in confrontations with Guptill and Elliott.

Just back from a weekend away in Bangkok......
Congrats to the Aussies who deservedly picked up the trophy. =D>
The match was effectively over in the first over when McCullum was bowled by Starc after playing and missing with a couple of wild swings beforehand.
If it hadnt have been for Elliott the NZ score would have been shocking.
As for the trip to England.....how many of the Tests will go beyond 3 days ?

Hopefully when 93 gets out of therapy, after the shock loss of the Black Caps, he will give us his views on Warnie's post game "interviews".
If ever Australia got around to organising a vote for President of the D&B Club, Warne would sure get my vote.
And his response to his admirers on the Twitteratti:

Jack, I'm assuming you refer to @GT53. He has been very quite over the past 24 hours! Hope it's not terminal and he survives the drowning of his sorrows. =D> =D>jackspratt wrote:Hopefully when 93 gets out of therapy, after the shock loss of the Black Caps, he will give us his views on Warnie's post game "interviews". <snip>

GT has suffered an even bigger blow as the All Black 7's side got smacked severly by the Fijians in the Hong Kong 7's final. A game they think they own.Bandung_Dero wrote:Jack, I'm assuming you refer to @GT53. He has been very quite over the past 24 hours!
