Ban Chiang Hotel, Has A Pool and a Gym. a short taxi ride or brisk walk from the irish clock. map ref I 11.

can you use the facilities for a fee or is it reserved for hotel guests only?

non-guests can use facilitys but a small charge for the pool 60 baht i think.


checked an old thread and 120 baht was mentioned for the use of everything sauna too !!

I do one more question is there any advantage getting my Laos visa in DC instead @ the Thai Loas boarder?

Sorry one more, has anyone traveled to Vang Viene? Is it worth visiting, I

Slotmh, re your second question, I've never been there, but my GF says it's Ok, but Luang Prabang is better. :)

Vang Vieng is well worth visiting. I spent 3 days there last December. Very scenic. Quite a few backpacker types about, but don't let that put you off.

wow nice pic's briang, those mountains in the background don't look real as if they have been painted on after.

yes, definitely get laos visa in DC, it will make going to vientiane much easier from udon. with visa, you can take a bus to vientiane for 80 baht, a much simpler and cheaper way than the alternative. you could not get it, and take the same bus, but if delayed at border getting visa, they will leave you at the border, laos side, then you will have to negotiage tuk tuk/taxi to vientiane, 150-200 baht. it is much simpler to have visa in hand before arriving in udon. nice ac bus and no worries.

I stayed at the Thavonsouk Resort. Its close to the river as you can see from some of the photos. It was clean and well maintained.
