The 2016 model passport will contain a polycarbonate page in which your info chip is embedded and thus better protected, something many countries are doing, Sprague said. The coating helps if your book gets wet or you sit on it and bend it, she added.

Consular Outreach: Udon Thani
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok is pleased to inform you of the location for the scheduled consular outreach visit to Udorn on Friday, April 17, 2015.

Consular staff will be available to provide services on April 17, 2015 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the:

The following consular services are available during our outreach visits:

•Passport renewal applications ($110.00 or Baht 3,630.00 for adult passports, and $105.00 or Baht 3,465.00 for a child’s passport). There are two options for obtaining your new passport; (a) The mail back option: There will be prepaid Thailand Post envelopes (costing Baht 80.00) available for purchase if you wish to have your passport mailed back to you. Please note your current passport MUST be submitted to the consular officer if you will be requesting this option. (b) Collecting in person from the Embassy: You may collect your passport in person from the Embassy in Bangkok and be sure to bring your current passport. Or, you may give written authorization for someone to collect the passport on your behalf. Choosing this option will allow you to hold your passport until you pick up your new passport at the Embassy.

Passport applications for minors under 16 years of age require the minor and both parents/legal guardians to appear in person. Please refer to http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/ge ... s_834.html for more information on the requirements to apply for a passport for a minor.
•First-time adult passport applications and passport applications for a
lost or stolen passport ($135.00 or Baht 4,455.00). In the case of a lost or stolen passport, be sure to bring the original and a copy of the police report, and any copies of the lost or stolen passport that were made prior to its loss. There are two options for obtaining your new passport; (a) The mail back option: There will be prepaid Thailand Post envelopes (costing Baht 80.00) available for purchase if you wish to have your passport mailed to you. Please note that your current passport MUST be submitted to the consular officer if you will be requesting this option for a first-time adult passport. (b) Collecting in person from the Embassy: You may collect your passport in person from the Embassy in Bangkok and be sure to bring your current passport if applicable. Or, you may give written authorization for someone to collect the passport on your behalf.
•Notarial Services and Certified Copies ($50.00 or Baht 1,650.00). This includes income affidavits for retirees in Thailand.
•Extra visa pages ($82 or Baht 2,706.00). Note: we can accept applications, but the passports will have to be brought back to the Embassy for final processing. There are two options for receiving your passport back. (a) The mail back option: There will be prepaid Thailand Post envelopes (costing Baht 80.00) available for purchase if you wish to have your passport mailed back to you. Based on past experience the best time to arrive is between 1100 and 1200 hours. Most people com early and the queue is the longest between 0800 and 1000 hours. ACS will not leave before noon, if there are customers in line at noon they will stay till all are served. Last visit they worked though their lunch hour. Expect over 100 to utilize their services.

Maybe the same time they shortened Udorn Thani to just Udon.

If you go to the train station you will see it spelt that way.
I also thought it was usually spelt that way by American service personal back in the Vietnam War days. (But am willing to be corrected on that by someone who was actually here at the time..

)
My understanding was that English translation from a Thai word is produced phonetically. So you will often see different English spellings of the same Thai word - even on different 'official' signs & documentation.

If you want to pronounce it correctly, it's oo-daawn. The first syllable like bOOt without the b or t
The second syllable like dawn.....but draw out the aw to sound a bit more like when you say aawe sh.t

Next Outreach Friday, Oct. 16.
This is the last year for extra pages.
· After December 31, 2015, the Department of State will no longer add extra visa pages to U.S. passports.
New 52 page passport $110.
Or 52 page passport plus 24 x 1 extra pages (total 76 pages). $110 + $82.
Or 52 page passport plus 24 x 2 extra pages (total 100 pages), $110 + $82. They give you the second bundle free.
Or 52 page passport plus 24 x 3 extra pages (total 124 pages). $110 + $ 82 + $82.

I wonder if you don't travel out of Country how many pages do you need?

In my case I have nine years to go so I might need more then I have now.

Just a wild guess ten pages if you don't travel out of the country

I guess if your an out country worker 52 pages might not be enough over a ten year priod. What would you do get another new Passport?

Yes. Starting in 2016, when you have no pages left, you have to get a new passport.
