Don't usually follow @Stickman but this will certainly stir the pot within the Farang community of Thailand.

Having lived here for >14 years I remember some of the TV posters mentioned and wonder if there is any real connection.

The article was posted on TV, in 3 locations, and removed within 5 minutes. Probably to late! I found it. :-$

And yes I agree absolutely with some observations:- A few of their moderators are are just blatant, cocklicken "Arseholes"

Fascinating article there BD. looks like a lot of homework done this week across ponzi schemes, dodgy name-changes, etc etc.

I have never been a fan of Stickman but he has described Thai Visa perfectly. If Stickman stays in business, I could get to admire him. I totally agree with his description of Thai Visa and will add that I stopped posting there several years ago.

I was a customer of the dodgy vIsa business on Soi 23, but remember the name of the company as Thai Visa. I used the service for a long time without any problems. The last time I went there, there was a padlock on the door. I asked around and heard that the owner (whoever he was) had been deported and no one knew where all the passports had been taken. I had my passport so I didn't have to face that nightmare. I was quite worried and considered leaving Thailand. I finally decided to face the music and went to a government Immigration office. The immigration officer studied my passport and asked how I had gotten stamps from Australia when I had no exit of entrance stamps in my passport. I told him the entire truth and didn't try to fudge anything. He finally told me that my stamps from Australia were legal but that I had gotten them illegally. He told me that the guy running the visa place had connections with the Australian Thai immigration and is now out of business. Thankfully the official extended my visa and told me that anytime my passport goes anywhere that I had better be going with it. I felt a great wight lifted off my shoulders and have never used any type of service like that since.

It wasn't only individuals using these dodgy visa services. Prior to me getting my work permit in 2001 (working/consulting on an offshore oil facility in the gulf of Thailand) an office worker would have me send my passport into the office in the company mail bag. It would reappear a few days later showing me having gone to KL and back again. Being very naive, when it came to Thai Immigration requirements, thought it was just normal procedure.

Fortunately it never bit me on the arse.

I lived in Bkk from 1997- 2000 and i recall this set up was based in a pub/restaurant in Sukh 23 cant recall the name but was run by an expat and always busy ... also there was a pick up service at the Off Shore fish n chip shop nearby .. a mate of mine used their"service" and i was with him when he dropped off his passport at the pub and collected it at a meeting in the chippy ... visa was good as he got a work permit attached to it via the HQ Labour office in Mitmatree Rd Din Daeng directly after .

I stopped using Thai Visa years ago it appeared to be morphing into some thing other than an informative forum way back then ... thinking back it was moderated in a strange way but i did enjoy it for the chat and info which was in the most part pretty good .

Cant comment now as not been on there for donkeys years .

Use to be plenty of Visa service reps. An Aussie in Nong Khai ran one out of his guest house back in the 90's
