If I drove an older car, or a beat up truck, I would have to accidentally run over the motorbike, perhaps word would get out to the Thais that as the motorbike is their only mode of transportation, parking properly would ensure they got home.stattointhailand wrote:You forgot the "I can't see the 4 ft of parking space available, I'm going to put my motorbike 2.5 ins from your bumper" disease

I doubt that they would put it 2.5 ins from a beaten up truck ..... it might belong to someone in their own family

Not being "up to speed" with either military or technical data, perhaps someone could explain to me how the American Military can pinpoint exactly where a missile was fired from when it comes from Ukraine and takes down a plane, but can't say whether a missile that lands in a school in Gaza came from Gaza or Israel
Why, when we are constantly told how short of medical supplies Gaza is, their doctors operate on a dead woman who's complete family had been killed, to even look for, let alone, to prematurely give birth to a baby who will need a minimum of 5 weeks in hospital and then be an orphan for the rest of it's life, instead of spending their time and resources on those that are being injured during the conflict

OT was driving along the coast road admiring the view to my left of palm trees and clear blue ocean and to my right cranes and construction sites and started to think about money. Not money that I want but how much money is actually worth.
Is a B1,000 note really worth B1,000 and have the spending power of its face value, B1,000 ?
The answer to that is No, it's worth a lot more than that, in fact the average B1,000 has an average spending power of B412,500.
For instance, You go to the ATM and withdraw B1,000 and then go to Udon Tap for a few Belgium beers and a walnut whip and you check your bin using that B1,000 together with other money if necessary depending on how pissed you got, then from the Udon Tap till that B1,000 is used to make up someone's salary, that someone then uses that same B1,000 to buy a pair of flip flops at the market then the market vendor gives the same B1,000 to her youngest kid as pocket money, he then goes to the corner shop an buys some fireworks with the same B1,000 and so on, the same B1,000 continues to buy and pay for things.
And it changes hands on average 55 times a year, just over once a week, and lasts in circulation on average for seven and a half years according to my research. I have not taken into consideration the blo0dy pests at 7/11 who buy something for B10 using B1,000.
So I am beginning to understand how a vibrant economy works. No need to print money you just need to get it moving around a bit quicker in your own country.

I do this all the time there and Big C, Tesco etc to get change. How often do you go into an independent shop/mini-market to buy something with a 100 baht note (two quid approx FFS) or even a fifty, and you've got to wait till they go to another shop/vendor for change as they don't keep a 'float'.

Oh dear 747man. Here we are intruding into OT's home patch - "I was thinking" and you're suggesting our first class Shiraz drinker is under-equipped ...
Given how straight your bat is I can safely assume you are but speculating. We could equally speculate the other way that OT was once a British porn star ... He might have pursued that career for a while after getting expelled from Eton.
Is OT still making mugs of all of us?
