No it is not 555. PM John for directions. Great place and many fish. lf you saw Johns first post he described what he had stocked the ponds with and the number of fish he put in. Please believe me when l say there are plenty fish.
If you intend going better to contact him to make sure he will be at home. It would be a great venue if this lace could take off.

P.S. If we have anyone who loves good clean catfish, they will be 3 for 150 Baht, including fishing, until they get bigger.

Will try and get back for a days fishing next week John. Have to get out to the farm when this rain stops for some worms again.

In relation to the pic I saw of the bait cage: a small piece of a woman's nylon stocking works well. Pig liver inside for catfish. Pig liver without the stocking stays of fairly well. A lot better than most things.

excuse me for hooking in this topic..I am planning a big grand tour for close up to a year thru Thailand in 2016. I am a 'Masterbaiter' and would love to fish in Thailand.

I want to try the ponds/ lakes too but especially 'wild fishing' or shore/ sea fishing. maybe rent my own fishing boat if this is possible in Thailand.

to other fishers:

- anyone interested in travelling around in Thailand and fish?
- maybe someone knows the rules and regulations about fishing in Thailand? do you need a permit to go fishing 'wild' or shore/ sea fishing? I sent several mails to official government offices in Thailand but unfortunatelly no answer at all sent fishing stores an email but no answering??
- and thinking to bring my own fishing gear from Belgium. what are the 'fishing gear requirements to fish at lakes'? can anyone tell me anything about this maybe? thank you.
- can anyone give me more information about renting your own fishing boat in Thailand? is this possible? or has anyone a fishing boat and can I 'rent/ hire' you to go fishing at sea? or what about fishing on the big rivers?

hope anyone can help this 'masterbaiter'.. tried to get information at several fishing lakes, fishing gear stores, governmental offices but...

There are no national laws about angling in Thailand. Locally, in some ponds and lakes no fishing is allowed (e.g. typically formal park lakes) and some villages will have ponds where fishing is intermittently banned. Also many ponds are privately owned so you cannot just drop your line in any pond .... The only wild freshwater fishing worth bothering with is in remote areas or some large reservoirs - again remember most of these 'public' ponds, lakes and rivers are utilised by the locals as a food source - often commercially - so although legally you can fish them, you could be viewed as a competitor trying to muscle in on their 'territory'. That is why it is hard to give general advice, and why you will not get any from government offices.

Most freshwater fishing is done in fishing parks - some of which are more like goldfish bowls and some wilder. And some fishing parks also have low stocking rates; some have lots of larger fish - you generally get what you pay for.

Away from the main tourist areas fishing parks will probably be rather mediocre. After 7 years of fishing locally, i don't bother with fishing parks much, fishing in my own families ponds is just as good (usually better) and free.

Don't know much about the sea fishing.

Hi Rick thank you for your information. over here in europe I have been fishing in private ponds/ lakes too..it's ok for a few times..prefer the open water rivers/ big lakes, and te ocean. I will open a new topic for my questions thou..

Had a mate ask a while back about the same thing.
This was one website I sent him. No idea if it is any good as he cancelled the trip to Thailand.

Nong bua Lamphu fishing Park is the best in the area, it has lots of big Siamese carp and amazon redtails, Just look at their facebook page. It is well worth the days visit

For those of you who can be like: When in Rome do as the Romans do" the fishing pond at 17 26' 47.94" N 102 51' 05.77" E is opened again daily from 9 to 5. Mi ahaan kap krueng duum.

Just went to the above mentioned pond and talked with owners wife. Although there is a new sign on the main road to Sampraow saying open daily from 09.00 to 17.00 actually they will start coming Saturday weekend with a tournament. And after that, if there are a sufficient number of people who want to fish on a daily basis they will I consider opening every day. "BUT THE NEW SIGN ON THE STREET ANNOUNCES they are open EVERY day from 9 to 5".
My thought "The sign is in Thai so . .. . .. ...
I know from the past that this pond was open every day and is one of the few (two I know of in Sampraow) ponds with clear water and not murky or greenish.
So my bad, living in Thailand I have to remember every time to check and double check first before announcing and not believe everything I read . . . . .
