"Supporting Rangers and Newcastle, socksy must be prone to incredible mood swings".

It's not easy Zid.

If Middlesboro go up at the end of the season there will be only two local derbies in the Championship next season. McClaren and Advocaat could make sure of that. As for Rangers aspirations to be Premiership contenders if they are promoted at the end of the season, they were given a lesson last night losing 3-1 at home to SPL side St Johnstone in the League Cup.

If Warburton and Weir at Rangers need a reminder that the Championship will not be a one horse race then it came from Easter Road last night with title rivals Hibs beating SPL leaders and unbeaten Aberdeen 2-0 in the League Cup.

How long will the fat one at the 'toon' persevere with that 'wonga' McClaren after their embarrassing cup exit?

Well the papers were reckoning that Rogers would probably be out of a job if they had lost - & that was a real possibility.

Mr. Sports seems to usually act sooner, rather than later - even if it is usually pretty rash decision making.. According to the Beeb today
The former England manager has just three wins from his last 21 matches, combining results from previous club Derby County.

Hardly an enviable record... :D

Who to replace him Socks??? Big Sam????
As I don't think the ones being mentioned to replace Rogers would be especially interested while the ownership at Newcastle remains as it is...

Bob. I would like to see someone like, currently out of work, Frank Rijkaard in the frame. He did pretty well at Barcelona but being at Newcastle under the fat fook would be a different kettle of fish.

I think Advocaat and Rodgers are ahead of McClaren in the sack race.....Rodgers next 3 games,Aston Villa,Sion and Everton.....2 bad results and he could be joining 747man on the Liverpool taxi ranks !
Frank Rijkaard....dont think so.....Frank Spencer might be more appropriate,socksy,old son ! :D

But back to the clubs in the lower leagues......
Conference side Torquay say the have received 129 applications for the vacant managers job !

Alderney Nomads, the only team on the Channel Island itself, have been forced to fold because of a lack of players. :(

Earlier in the week Scottish PL side,Motherwell, parted company with former Scunthorpe boss,Ian Baraclough, after 9 months in charge.Motherwell were knocked out of the Scottish League Cup 3-2 after extra time by Championship side,Greenock Morton,in midweek.

I was reading that in the last round the date of the tie between Frome and Chippenham had to be changed because there was a "cheese show" in town.......the romance of the FA Cup ! 8)

"But when was the last time you heard a match had been been moved because of a cheese show?
Frome Town's tie with West Country rivals Chippenham Town has been brought forward from Saturday to Friday because it clashes with the town's biggest event of the year.
Frome Cheese Show The Frome Cheese Show showcases over 1,200 cheese entries from around the globe
The Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show attracted 20,000 visitors last year and officials of the Southern League Premier Division club acted amid fears the attendance would be hit if the tie was not rescheduled.
"Chippenham are only a few miles down the road and we'd like to think we could expect a crowd of around 500 or 600," Frome secretary and managing director Ian Pearce told BBC Sport.
"But the cheese show is huge, the biggest event in the town's calendar.
"It would have had a big knock-on effect in terms of the attendance had we not re-arranged the date.
"A lot of our fans like going to the cheese show, including our chairman, Jeremy Alderman, who is one of the show's sponsors."
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Southend United 2 Scunthorpe 1
Aldershot 0 Macclesfield 3
Cheltenham 0 Tranmere Rovers 1
Forest Green Rovers 0 Gateshead 1
FC United of Manchester 3 Witton Albion 1.....FA Cup 2nd qualifying round.

More disappointment for Scunthorpe in League 1 who surrendered an early lead and now sink into the bottom 4 of the league. :(
Double disappointment for those waking up in Vientiane this morning with a headache as both Cheltenham and Forest Green lost at home in the Conference. :( :(
But joy for Macclesfield fans worldwide as they stormed to a convincing win at Aldershot \:D/ Maccs season,so far,can be summed up in one word "inconsistent."
FC United progressed in the FA Cup and they are now only two ties away from a possible tie against a Football League club.
Greenock Morton v Rangers 6.30pm Thai tonight...can Rangers maintain there 100% league record ?
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

It may be the steep hill roll the cheese down race which has several casualties every year after the competitors chase their cheeses in Gloucestershire.

Rangers made short work of Greenock Morton scoring 3 goals in the first 34 minutes and eventually winning 4-0.
Thats 8 wins on the bounce.....a goal difference of +24.....9 points ahead of their nearest rivals already.Could Rangers be the first side ever to be promoted by Hogmanay readers ? ;)

Scottish Premiership side,Dundee United, have removed Jackie McNamara from the managers post but he will remain on the coaching staff.United are currently next to bottom with just 5 points from 9 matches.

Middlesbrough crushed Leeds 3-0 yesterday to move up to 2nd place in the Championship behind surprise leaders Brighton.
The 3 promoted clubs,Preston,MK Dons and Bristol City, currently occupy the bottom 3 places in the Championship.

You have to say Brentford deserve this after the way Warburton and Weir were treated last season =;

Brentford sack Marinus Dijkhuizen and appoint Lee Carsley
Brentford have sacked head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen after nine matches and placed Lee Carsley in charge until the end of the season.
Dijkhuizen's assistant, Roy Hendriksen, has also left the Championship club.
Brentford won only two of their eight league games under the Dutchman, 43, and are 19th in the table.
Former Blackburn, Coventry and Everton midfielder Carsley, 41, had been working as manager of Brentford's development squad.
Dijkhuizen was appointed head coach by Brentford in June, following the controversial departure of previous boss Mark Warburton.
It was confirmed in February that Warburton, who went on to lead the Bees into last season's play-offs, would leave the club at the end of the campaign.
Warburton had guided Brentford to promotion from League One the previous season.
A former striker, Dijkhuizen had previously been manager at Excelsior in the Netherlands, where his side finished 15th in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Scunthorpe 1-0 Fleetwood
Halifax 1-7 Cheltenham
Grimsby 1-1 Forest Green
Macclesfield 0-0 Boreham Wood
Rangers 3-1 Falkirk
The Iron did not make life very easy for themselves against a manager-less club who had not won in 7. However win they did which pushes them away from danger & up to 20th. Need a few more results like this until Jon can rest easy though!!

Good grief...2 1 up at half time never suggested this sort of final scoreline. Mind you Halifax were bottom but one & with a manager on his first game for the side.

After a few defeats on the bounce the draw might steady the ship a bit at Rovers. This was a tough match that they battled through rather than a return to their opening form though.

Bit of a bottom of the table scrap for Macclesfield. They had the better of the game & the better of the chances but just couldn't make it count.

It does not get any better than 9 out of 9 & 9 points clear!!
This was not as easy as the scoreline suggests for Rangers though. Still a draw going into the last 9 minutes - seemed to be a 9 theme to Rangers yesterday... :D

Some big games in Europe this weekend, particularily in the Bundesliga where the "big two" Bayern and Dortmund met up........surprisingly Bayern thrashed Dortmund 5-1 which looks ominous for the rest of the league.
Other European results......
AC Milan 0 Napoli 4  the Balotelli magic working already ?
Fiorentina 3 Atalanta 0.....Fiorentina stay top of Serie A.
Ajax 1 PSV Eindhoven 2....Champions PSV win the Eredvesies biggest game.
PSG 2 Marseille 1.....Zlatan Ibrahimovic becomes PSG's record goalscorer.
Atletico Madrid 1 Real Madrid 1.....a late equaliser thwarts Real.
Levante 1 Villareal 0.....La Liga leaders are surprisingly beaten.
Chicago Fire 3 New England Revolution 1.....a token mention to keep our American readers happy. ;)
KuPS Kuopio 2 FF Jaro 0.....which league is this ? without googling =;

No idea without Googling Zid.

What I do know is Robert Lewandowski, 27, scored twice for Bayern Munich to take his tally to 12 goals in the last four games. Next up for him is Poland away to Scotland. Oh S**T
