[quote="BobHelm"][quote] Scunthorpe 2-0 Barnsley

After another cracking win the Iron march on up L1 and now only one more win away from a top three slot :D !!!! depending on other results of course.... all this since my email to Chairman Mr Swan a few weeks ago

On a slightly different note all be it footy related i recall 2 months ago thinking of having a silly bet that Jose Mourinho would be sacked at Chelsea but couldnt find any odds or takers at the time ... i think that may have changed now as will the odds!!

Hibernian 2-1 Rangers
Shock, horror, Rangers finally lose 1.
It was away to Hibs, the second side in the League, so maybe not really a surprise.
It cuts the lead down to 5 points whereas a Rangers win would have really seen them out of sight by 11 points so it is probably all for the best in the League & should stop the players thinking they have won it before Christmas!!!

We should, should, get back to winning ways at the wekend at home to Alloa and hope that after their cup exertions last night where Hibs beat SPL Dundee Utd 3-0 in the cup they will face a stuffy St Mirren side away who we struggled to beat 1-0

There was 1 game last night when ex-Manchester United player owned Salford City produced the first FA Cup shock by defeating League Two Notts County by 2 goals to nil.. :D

Selective games....for a full list look here.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/fixtures
Wimbledon V Forest Green

In Scotland, in the League..

A special mention for Salford City of the Northern Premier League who defeated League 2 Notts County 2-0 last night in the FA Cup. =D>
Salford are 59 places below Notts County in the leagues ladder and are jointly owned by Ryan Giggs,Paul Scholes,Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers.

A wealthy Macclesfield fan has arranged a special package for Macc fans wanting to make the 500 mile round trip to Portsmouth with a local coach firm for todays FA Cup tie.
For adults you get coach travel, ticket to the match and a Macc Town scarf for just 30 quid.....over 65's is 25 quid....and under 20's 20 quid. =D>
But on Maccs website you still get fans moaning that you have to go to Maccs ground to pick up the coach ! [-X
Around 1,000 Macc fans are intending to make the journey to the South Coast.

I've been to Fratton Park years ago. There was a pub right next to the ground with a good atmosphere and packed with footie fans.....dunno if its still there ?
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Wimbledon 1-2 Forest Green
Hartlepool 1-0 Cheltenham
Portsmouth 2-1 Macclesfield
Rangers 4-0 Alloa
On the face of it not much to cheer me or Zid up there, although FG involved in a bit of a cup run might just mean that they take their eye off the league goal - it is an ill wind, as they say... :D
North of the border, Rangers return to winning ways with a vengeance. It was against the side at the bottom in the league & their opponents were reduced to 10 men before the end, however Rangers had the game in the bag, being 2 goals up, 15 minutes after the start. Second in the table, Hibernian, continue to keep the pressure on Rangers though & had a nice 4 to 1 win away at St Mirren themselves..

You seemed to have overlooked a very important result for the tens of thousands of Scunny fans based in Asia Bob ... a terrific 2-1 home FA Cup win for the Iron against Sarfend sees them into the draw tomorrow evening.

Sorry Jon, I didn't want to publish a winning FA cup side supported by a prominent member - might have been different if Town had won... :D

Congratulations to the Iron & I hope that they get a favourable draw in the next round - either someone who they can thump, or 1 of the big boys to draw in the cash... :D

Its a great draw for Salford City (could have been even easier if Cheltenham had won ;) ) but tricky away ties for the likes of Scunthorpe and Forest Green, also for local NW sIdes Altrincham and Northwich.
Tie of the round (on paper at least) is the local NW derby between Rochdale and Bury.....sales of black puds will be rocketing on that day ! 8)

Cheltenham 5-0 Guiseley
Macclesfield 3-0 Altrincham
Welling 1-1 Forest Green
Happy days... :D As Town go top as FG can only manage an away draw. Third placed Dover also lose out at home against fourth placed Eastleigh.

It was pretty easy going for Town as the scored before a minute was on the clock & then scored again before the 10 minute mark. Things got even easier in the second half as Guiseley almost immediately had Lockwood dismissed for a pretty poor attempt at a tackle.
They just have to keep it up for the remaining 26 games now!! :D

It didn't look like it was starting too well for Macclesfield as the visitors hit the bar with a long range effort, but they rode out that storm & then started to dominate the game. The win keeps them in mid-table & only 5 points from a play off spot, so plenty still to look forward to & little to worry about, being a massive 18 points away from the danger zone.
At that end of the table Kidderminster & Halifax are starting to be in danger of coming adrift,

Forest Green will be disappointed to drop off the top of the table for the first time this season. This was not their best display of the season & they ended up needing to score a late equaliser to get a point from the match..

Just a reminder that the first El Classico encounter takes place on Saturday 21st November at 1715 hours BST kick off.

Real Madrid v Barcelona.

Does Spain not have international breaks from meaningless friendlies during an already busy season?

Some sad news from the world of football......RIP
Martin Fulop.jpg
Marton Fulop: Former Sunderland keeper dies, aged 32

Ex-Sunderland and Ipswich goalkeeper Marton Fulop has died at the age of 32.
The former Hungary international had a tumour removed from his arm in 2013 but was cleared to continue his career.
He played 47 times for the Black Cats between 2006 and 2010 and last appeared for Town in 2011, making 38 appearances for the Suffolk club in all.
"It's desperately sad when we lose a Sunderland family member but to lose one so young in such circumstances is heartbreaking," the Black Cats said.
Fulop also played for Tottenham and West Brom and had loan spells at Chesterfield, Coventry, Leicester, Stoke and Manchester City.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Swindon 2-1 Scunthorpe
Forest Green 3-1 Dover
Southport 0-4 Cheltenham
Woking 2-5 Macclesfield
FC United of Manchester 1-2 Gainsborough Trinity
This was Swindon's first win since September!! It eases them out of the relegation zone as those around them (Blackpool, Fleetwood & Barnsley) all lose. Crewe do as well, to leave them rooted to bottom place.
The Iron slip to 12th. - very much in mid table, 9 points from a play off place, 8 points from the drop zone.

Forest Green went behind to fellow promotion contenders, Dover. They dominated the second half though & stuck 3 away.

Town had an easy day of it away to strugglers Southport. It does not get much easier than being 3 goals up after 15 minutes!! Nice to see that they stuck to their task & kept a clean sheet as well. They remain top of the table, but only by a point, from FG.

Macclesfield had great fun away at Woking, with Kristian Dennis scoring 3. The only slight black mark was, having gone into a 4 goal lead they let the home side score a couple of late, consolation goals.

FC United of Manchester see-saw season continues. They are only out of the zone by goal difference, although they have played few games than 2 of the 3 below them. Need to pick up a couple of wins to easy away!!
