So no real shocks in the replays.
As is often the case, the underdog gets 1 throw at it..
A rare game to forget this season for Leicester. Spurs bossed the game from the start & ran out fairly easy winners.

In the FA Trophy the Town replay against Oxford was postponed as the English winter took its' toll & froze the pitch..

East Kilbride beat Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale (yes that's the real name) 2-0 in the Cup in Scotland last night. A bumper crowd of 660 were present and they've set up a home match v Celtic in the next round. As their stadium only seats 550 the match has been moved to Hamilton Accies, New Douglas Park which holds........................6,000. ](*,)

Scunthorpe 3-0 Colchester
Forest Green 1-0 Braintree
Macclesfield 0-2 Aldershot
FC United of Manchester 6-1 Lowestoft Town
Well Colchester are 1 of 3 sides (Crewe & Oldham being the other 2) adrift at the bottom of the division - by 6 points now - so I guess the result should have been expected. It was nil, nil up to the hour mark though when The Iron suddenly went goal crazy & scored 3 in 8 minutes. Maybe they should stay manager-less until season end... :D

Forest Green return to the top of the Vanarama National League by a point, but have now played 1 more game than Town.
Macclesfield's charge up the table was brought to a halt, but the remain in 7th. place.

FC United of Manchester suffered a 4 nil mauling last time out so this was a bit of a surprise result. They are in 14th. place but it is mighty tight in the Vanarama National League North at the bottom of the table, so they are still only 4 points away from the drop..

Argentina's Superclasico descended into chaos as five players were sent off in River Plate's 1-0 off-season 'friendly' win over Boca Juniors.
Boca were down to eight men by the 78th minute, before River's Jonathan Maidana, for headbutting Carlos Tevez, and Leonardo Pisculichi saw red.
"Neither of us behaved well," Tevez said referring to himself and Maidana.
Pisculichi scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 17th minute after Tevez had handballed.
League champions Boca also had two players sent off in the 4-2 defeat by Racing Club in Mar del Plata in midweek.
"In four days, five sent off, in two matches, we must grow up," the former West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City forward added.
Boca's reds:
Jonathan Silva, 10 minutes into his debut, for a lunge on Gabriel Mercado
Gino Peruzzi for a foul
Daniel Diaz for insulting referee Patricio Loustau
River's reds:
Maidana dismissed for headbutting Tevez
Pisculichi for getting involved in the resulting melee

Dover 1-2 Cheltenham
It was a quiet affair when 5th. were at home to second until the 82nd minute when the hosts scored. Town were offered a life line penalty on the 88th. minute & not only scored it but managed to grab a winner as well.
They return to the top of the table by 2 points over Forest Green, who are 6 points clear of 3rd. placed Grimsby.

Morton 0 - 2 Rangers
Rangers won easy enough despite being reduced to 10 men.
That was due to a silly second yellow given to Andy Halliday for celebrating the 2nd, goal in front of the Morton fans.
It gives Rangers a 5 point lead at the top over Hibs.

Cheltenham finally get their FA Trophy game against Oxford played & must have wished that they never bothered as they got stuffed 3 zip by the visitors.
In the National league they also drop to second as Forest Green record a 1 nil away victory at Southport..

Not a good night to be a supporter... :(

Well done to the 'Junior' side.

Forfar 0 Linlithgow 1

Linlithgow Rose became the first junior team to reach the last 16 of the Scottish Cup after Kevin Kelbie struck in extra-time against Forfar Athletic.

Teams from the semi-professional junior leagues were first allowed entry to the competition in 2007.

From Todays Bangkok Post ..............Martinez 'hurt' by Everton's League Cup exit
28 Jan 2016 at 08:43 280 viewed0 comments
WRITER: AFP
MANCHESTER (UNITED KINGDOM) - Everton manager Roberto Martinez complained that his team had been unjustly denied a place in the League Cup final after a controversy-flecked semi-final loss to Manchester City.

Everton's manager Roberto Martinez watches his players during the English League Cup semi-final second leg football match between Manchester City and Everton in Manchester, England, on January 27, 2016
Everton were 3-2 up on aggregate in Tuesday's second leg at the Etihad Stadium when Kevin De Bruyne drew City level in the 70th minute despite Raheem Sterling appearing to have taken the ball beyond the byline before cutting the ball back for his Belgian team-mate.

Six minutes later De Bruyne crossed for Sergio Aguero to head in the decisive goal in a 4-3 aggregate win, setting up a meeting with Liverpool in next month's final, but Martinez felt the damage had been done earlier.

"It was a clear decision -- the ball is out of play," said Martinez. "The second goal, I felt that decision affected too much the outcome of us reaching Wembley or not. That is why it hurts.

"You don't mind if Manchester City find a way of being outstanding and scoring three goals. It is very difficult to find an explanation in the dressing room for the players, to find a reason we have been knocked out.

"That is hurtful and unfair. We want to make sure we pay our fans back and take them to Wembley this season."

Asked if the incident emphasised the need for video technology to be introduced to the sport, Martinez responded: "My question is, do we need technology to get that right?

"For me that action is so clear. I would expect an international or Premier League linesman to get that call right. I would expect a top referee to get his angle and his position right."

Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Everton extended their advantage in the 18th minute of the return leg when Ross Barkley left Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph for dead before steering a shot into the bottom-left corner.

But Fernandinho swiftly equalised with a deflected shot and after Aguero and David Silva had hit the post, the 66th-minute introduction of De Bruyne tipped the balance of the tie in City's favour.

The Belgian's night was to end in painful fashion, however, as he had to be stretchered from the field after his right knee buckled in a challenge with Ramiro Funes Mori.

- 'Everton cannot complain' -

The 24-year-old will undergo tests on Thursday, but City manager Manuel Pellegrini said he was "optimistic" that De Bruyne would not miss the rest of the season.

Pellegrini dismissed Martinez's complaints about De Bruyne's goal, citing decisions that had gone against City in both the first leg and the recent goalless draw between the teams in the Premier League.

"Maybe it was a mistake of the referee, but I think one thing that Everton cannot complain about is the referee," said the Chilean, who led City to a league and League Cup double two years ago.

England football legend Stuart Pearce is set to come out of retirement aged 53 in a bid to transform the fortunes of a struggling non-league side.

Nicknamed Psycho, the former Nottingham Forest defender played in a World Cup semi-final in 1990 but has signed for a team dubbed "the worst in the UK".

Longford AFC, based in Gloucestershire, have lost all 18 games this season, scoring one goal and letting in 179.

And for turning out for such a team he get's...................................to pay five pounds subs share for pitch and referee hire.

Derby 1-3 Man Utd
Much better display than of late by United - although the cynical might think that they just found their level - Championship.
In truth Derby did not make enough of the opportunity. The one thing that the lower division clubs need to do to worry higher division opponents is to press & harry every man as soon as the have the ball. Derby allowed United to play in a style that suited them all too much.

Here are the 4th. round games that are live in the UK, so I am guessing it will be possible to pick up live somewhere on the net.. I am not so sure about any of the other games..

Nothing really in the way of shocks - although I guess that The Shrews got the winner of the underdog stakes.
West Brom have a tricky rematch, as do Pool away to the Hammers..
Coventry 1-2 Scunthorpe
Cheltenham 4-1 Bromley
Forest Green 2-1 Macclesfield
FC United of Manchester 4-3 Harrogate Town
Good away win by still managerless Scunny puts another dent in the Coventry promotion hopes.
Bromley have been having a bit of a slump & they proved easy opponents for Town, However they still remain a point behind Forest Green (but with a game in hand) as the leaders put paid to Macclesfield. That was a close encounter though & the visitors actually took the lead in the 70th. minute. Green pulled it back though & won it with a goal deep in injury time.
Great win for FC United of Manchester against promotion hopefuls Harrogate Town continues their goal feast of late!!

Oops, sorry Socks, I missed out on the main one...
Rangers 1-0 Falkirk
It was a very late winner by new loanee, Billy individual, who came on as a sub.
The weather conditions were not conducive to playing nice football & Rangers will be very happy with the points as it gives them a 10 point advantage over yesterday's 3rd, placed rivals.
It also gives them an 8 point advantage (having placed 1 more game) over second placed Hibernian, who spent yesterday beating St Johnstone 2 to 1 in the Scottish League Cup semi final..
They will find out who they play in the final later today after Celtic & Ross County have battled it out...
