Another one bites the dust. Oldham v Blackpool in League One is off because of the rain. That is the second game in the third tier to fall foul of the weather after Scunthorpe v Doncaster.
Sounds like the Iron need a swimming coach before worrying about a manager.
Weather pretty awful in the UK today just about everywhere.. :(
Shame the local derby Scunny v Donny was lost to the bad weather and waterlogged pitch ......spare a thought for the traveling Donny Rovers supporters club and the fan who actually arrived at the ground on their penny farting just before the announcement the game was off .

They seemed to be happy in the Celtic dug-out at their Scottish Cup tie yesterday desite a less than convincing 2-0 win over Non-League East Kilbride.

Celtic will host Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals after a malfunction with the original draw saw them avoid a trip to Dundee United.

One of the balls opened in the original early draw forcing a re-draw.

Scottish Cup quarter-final draw (matches to take place on the weekend of 5/6 March):

Hearts/Hibernian v Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Celtic v Greenock Morton

Ross County v Dundee United

Rangers/Kilmarnock v Dundee/Dumbarton

Sacked after just 8 months with your team lying 5th in the Championship and after your chairman told you "promotion is not a priority this season" when you signed up......

Paul Clement: Derby County sack head coach after eight months

Derby County have sacked head coach Paul Clement after just eight months in charge of the Championship club.
The Rams are fifth in the table after seven league games without a victory, though chairman Mel Morris said promotion "was not the primary target".
Morris said Derby had "not made enough progress" under 44-year-old Clement, formerly assistant manager at Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Academy director Darren Wassall will take over for the rest of the season. The 47-year-old played for the Rams between 1992 and 1997.
Clement, who replaced Steve McClaren at the iPro Stadium in June, was given funds to strengthen his squad during pre-season.
He twice broke the club's transfer record - signing Hull winger Thomas Ince for £4.75m and Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson for £6m.
The Rams failed to win any of their first six matches under Clement before improving to force their way into contention for promotion.
But their latest poor run has seen them slip five points below second-placed Middlesbrough and only three points inside the top six.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

The Paul Clement sacking is a bit of a shocker really - especially considering the owners' words just 8 months ago that he saw him as the manager who could build an 'Alex Ferguson type dynasty' at the club. Just as well the ManU owners gave him a bit more time at the start!!!

Last night..
West Ham 2-1 Liverpool
in the FA Cup. The Hammers needing extra time to confirm a last 16 trip to Blackburn in the next round.

In the FA Trophy..
Torquay 3-3 Macclesfield
means another go at a result next week after a 6 goal thriller on a wet & cold night.

In the League
Telford 5-1 FC United of Manchester
as FC United of Manchester continue to either score a hatfull or concede a hatfull..

Scunthorpe 1-0 Southend
Cheltenham 2-0 Welling
Halifax 0-2 Forest Green
Kidderminster 3-1 Macclesfield
FC United of Manchester 1-3 Alfreton
Alloa 1-1 Rangers
Good win (3rd. on the trot) from the Iron against an in form Southend. It still looks like a season of consolidating their place in the division though.

Now 19 games unbeaten for Town as they swept past a Welling side who are in serious danger of the drop. They needed the win to stay top by a point as Forest Green continue to rack up the points & pressure in second place by only a point.
Macclesfield suffered a surprising loss against 2nd. from bottom Kidderminster, who scored 3 goals inside the first 20 minutes. The visitors never recovered from that & couldn't score themselves until right at the death.

The top side in the Championship can only record a draw away against the bottom side. It does little actual damage in the title race as second placed Hibernian can only manage similar away at bottom but one side Livingston.
Too much early Valentine love in the air yesterday in Scotland??? :D

Kilmarnock 1-2 Rangers
Millwall 0-2 Scunthorpe
Cheltenham 2-0 Kidderminster
Macclesfield 0-1 Torquay
Rangers were gifted an early lead via a penalty in the 3rd. minute, but the hosts were back level before 10 minutes were up. Despite Rangers then dominating a rain soaked night they just couldn't turn their advantage into goals. Then just as extra time looked likely Nicky Clark stepped of the bench to score the sort of goal that deserves to win any game.
A home tie against Dundee or Dumbarton is up next.

4 wins on the trot for the managerless Iron. This away from home win at play off hopefuls Millwall was fairly impressive, although the second goal was scored with almost the last kick of the match to rather flatter the score line..

Kidderminster are bottom but one & 9 points away from safety, but they have been on a bit of a mini revival of late. They held out for the first half against Town but then gave away a penalty to hand the home side the game. Now 4 points clear at the top!!! Just need to keep it going for another 13 games... :D

No joy in the FA Trophy for Macclesfield as they bow out at home to the Vanarama National League bottom club, Torquay. Still I imagine that most with anything to do with the winning side would trade the win for the League position!!!

Hibs had a good 1-0 home cup replay win over the other Edinburgh side Hearts last night with Cummings scoring in the opening minutes. The ****** then gets yellow for needlessly celebrating and gesticulating to the Hearts fans behind the goal and gets red later after kicking the ball away later in the game after the referee had blown the whistle.

Hibs now have SPL side Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the quarter's.

Worrying news from Ibrox is that Britain's top scorer Martyn Waghorn left the game at Rugby Park on crutches last night. An artificial surface and under close scrutiny in the press at the moment with links to cancer as well as injuries.

Ronaldo Spits the Dummy and throws his teddy bears in the corner! [-( :crying:

Cristiano Ronaldo walked out of a Champions League press conference in Rome on Tuesday after questions about Barcelona's front three.

The Real Madrid superstar left a grinning Zinedine Zidane to finish the media duties on his own after becoming irritated by questions over his relationship with Gareth Bale and his recent goal scoring record away from home.

Real take on Roma in the first leg of their last-16 tie at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday, and Ronaldo was the player chosen to attend the press conference along with his manager.

The Portuguese was asked whether the apparently close bond between Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez was the reason for a combined goals total 22 better this season than that of himself, Bale and Karim Benzema.

"That's what you say," Ronaldo said. "When I was at Manchester United with Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand, we only said 'good morning' and 'good night' and we were formidable on the pitch.

"We don't give each other kisses and hugs. I don't have to go to dinner with Bale or Benzema or invite them to my house. What's important is our understanding on the pitch. Little meals or kisses and hugs don't mean anything."

Asked about Messi setting up Suarez from the penalty spot at the weekend he said: "I know why he did it, and I'm not saying anything more."

Ronaldo then took issue with a reporter who brought up his run of four away games without a goal, getting up to leave before his answer had been translated.

He said: "Can you name one player who has scored more away from home than me since I've been in Spain? No, you can't, there aren't any. Bye everyone."

Result of the round (so far!! :D ) goes to Reading.
The Gunners & Hull get the result neither wanted - a replay - while Everton & Watford ease nicely into the quarter finals.
Fleetwood 2-1 Scunthorpe
Forest Green 2-1 Eastleigh
Macclesfield P-P Dover - Postponed
Tranmere 0-1 Cheltenham
Harrogate Town 5-0 FC United of Manchester
First loss for no manager Iron, but he has had a good run.. :D It was enough to lift Fleetwood out of the zone & push Manchester United's next opponents, Shrewsbury, into it. You have to feel that Scunthorpe just want the season to end as they really are in little danger of either the drop or a play off place..
Forest Green actually went behind after an hour in what was described as a 'dour' match. They managed to sneak a late winner as the visitors reverted back to the sort of poor form that has highlighted their season.
The National League game between Macclesfield Town and Dover Athletic has been called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
The decision was taken following an early morning inspection when standing water was found on the playing surface.
"As a result of standing water on the pitch and the forecasted heavy rain the game has been postponed," said a statement on the Macclesfield website.
A new date for the fixture has yet to be agreed.
Far too easy for Town away at play off hopefuls, Tranmere. They scored an easy goal in just the 3rd. minute & probably should have scored more. It was a particularly sweet victory as Tranmere were the last side to defeat Town, back in September. Only 12 more to go.... :D
While taunts of boring are rightly being levelled at United, the same cannot be said of the other Manchester club, FC United. :D However, while their fans are likely to see plenty of goals, they are never sure at which end. Yesterday was one of those to forget.. So far this season supporters will have seen 107 goals while watching them. Pity is that they have only contributed 44 of them & so they remain far too close to the bottom for comfort..
