more killings and shooting in Pattaya

Post by cookie » February 24, 2007, 3:56 pm

I read these stories almost daily.
Still I believe that it is getting worse.
perhaps I have the wrong feeling #-o #-o
Two Russian women killed at Jomthien beach

PATTAYA: -- Two Russian women, both tourists, have been shot dead in the Eastern seaboard resort of Jomthien, adjacent to Pattaya, about 110 kilometers (70 miles) southeast of Bangkok, police said.

Tatiana Tsimfer, 30 and Liubov Svirkova, 25 were killed when an unidentified gunman fired four shots from a 9 mm pistol, police said. Their bodies were found lying on the beach while their personal effects were left untouched.

Witnesses reportedly told police that they saw the victims drinking alcohol and swimming earlier.

Initially, police investigators believed that the Russian tourists probably quarreled severely with a beach chair concessionnaire which led to the later violence. Police are searching for the operator to investigate.

i read news everyday from patts, and a high percent is muggings / robbery / murder / rape / assult /Knife fights /Fatal accidents... but remember it has a high tourist and ex-pat rate, with what some criminals may class as easy pickings, but it seems to be getting worse by the news coverage, the best days were 1988 till 1999 in my view, Happy days. :D

I'm not a frequent user of Pattaya and Jomtiens beaches, but on my last trip I went twice to Asia beach.
The first visit in December I paid my for my chair and beverage as I was about to leave, just as I have for last 10 years.
On my second visit Didn't even have time to sit down before I was approach by the owner, who asked me to pay 20 B for the chair.... I paid and ordered a coke and I got my coke and the bill....

Then I asked the owner of the beach chairs why the sudden change. He told me they had so much trouble with the Russians refusing to pay for their chairs and even for food and beverage. He also told me that they are very rude and often appear in a threatening way then asked to pay.

Maybe the two girls didn't want pay for the use of their chairs? And maybe someone just heard that once to much and got feed up?

I understand about some people from other countries coming across as rude/threatning, but the reason for this incident is not yet known so that is a "BIG" Maybe but might turn out to be true seaserpant , however not paying for a deckchair and getting shot for it is not good.

If people go to a flea pit like Pattaya then they are going to come in contact with the dregs that live there.Everyone knows it's reputation and that the streets are filled with cash laden fat farang.Prime targets.

Yes,wickder,i have had the misfortune to go there once myself.A sad place, almost a Blackpool in the sun popular with those looking for good quality tea bags and English language DVDs of crap sitcoms. You see them wandering down the streets, ginger hair and sun burnt bald patches. What an awful place. Then again keep them all together in one place and have the rest of Thailand lout free.

Maybe not an arguemant over the check-bin with the deck-chairs, as this happened at 5.00am,as the girls came most mornings to view "sun up" so unlikely due to the time, police maybe looking for someone wearing combat boots.

[quote]

On the 24th of February at 6.00am Dongtan Police were called to the scene of a double murder on Jomtien Beach opposite Soi 18.

Police rushed to the scene along with Rescue Volunteers and found two brutally slain Russian lady tourists named Miss Liubov Svirkova aged 25 and Miss Tatiana Tsimfer aged 30, slumped on two beach chairs. They had been mindlessly shot dead by someone using a 9mm gun.
Police found a mobile phone, a bottle of whisky, a pack of cigarettes and a paper bag containing clothes and passports belonging to the women, untouched on table.

Police discovered foot prints in the sand around the beach chairs which may have come from the assailant

My sources in both Pattaya and Bangkok tell me there are many eastern European "ladies" offering their wares on the streets and bars. Many of the Asian male tourists are their customer base.

From what I read in the Nation today it seems likely that they were genuine tourists.
Came to Thailand Feb 16th with 4 female friends, friends went to Kanchanaburi for a trip, they did not. All 6 scheduled to leave Thailand next Saturday.
Although, of course, they could be reducing there living expenses while they were here. :D
