Arsenal 1 Watford 2
The holders are out.Danny Welbeck pulled a goal back for Arsenal with 2 minutes to go then missed an open goal.
With Chelsea also crashing out any of the 4 teams left will fancy there chances of lifting the trophy.
Is it the end of Arsenals season ? Could it be the end for Wenger ?
Anyway, its United v West Ham in 15 minutes....enjoy the game.

Man Utd 1-1 West Ham
Well that one ended in a draw Zid.
The visitors will undoubtedly feel the harder done by that..
It will need a better performance by United to win the replay - or different players playing with a different formation & attitude!!
The draw will be made on Monday 14 March at approximately 7.20pm.(UK time)
The semi-final games will take at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday 23 April or Sunday 24 April 2016.
Meanwhile, across the channel, the French championship was decided as PSG went to strugglers Troyes. Even before the hosts had a man sent off in the 74 minute it had been a struggle for them. PSG finally won it 9 ( yes NINE) nil..
Winning a title with 8 games to go is some feat & will up the talk about old favourite, Laurent Blanc, returning to Old Trafford in the summer.. :D

However the Sunday results could also be seeing the swan song of Arsene Wenger as it looks increasing likely that The Gunners will exit the campaign without silverware...

That was quite a free kick by Payet, beating someone of de Geas ability from what.....40 yards ??
United tried hard....no-one should doubt their effort.....but they either dont look good enough and/or lack confidence...maybe,a bit of both.....West Ham will be clear favourites to win the replay.

Ibrahimovic has vowed to stay with PSG if the Eiffel Tower is replaced with a statue of him. Conceited *****. If Arsenal fail to win the League, once again they will have underachieved and this being probably their best chance to win it in several years.

Whats your view of Rafa taking over at the Toon, socksy ? Better than nowt and, certainly,McClaren ?
I believe he has an escape clause in his contract if Newcastle are relegated.

Meanwhile...... ;)

Wouldn't have been my choice Zid so the Jury is out on that one until the adjournment ends at the season's conclusion.. Personally, despite his situation with Leicester last season, I would have opted for Nigel Pearson one of the shortlisted names. The Spanish waiter, after all has hardly set the world on fire anywhere, even with decent squad's of plyers, so to pull Newcastle out of the brown smelly stuff with those at his disposal is going to be a difficult task.

Scottish League Cup - Final

Hibernian 1-2 Ross County
An interesting clash & 1 in which I rather struggled to decide which team I would prefer to have won.
Hibs have been around for a long time & although they are currently out of the top echelon have won plenty in the past. However this is a very young side rather than one filled with old stalwarts..
Ross County play in the Highlands & don't exactly have a trophy cabinet stuffed with silver wear. :D

In the event County won it in the dying minutes despite Hibs probably looking the better side for the majority of the match.
Spare a though for Hibs defender Liam Fontaine. He had to take a fair bit of responsibility for the County opener, but then redeemed himself by scoring the Hibs equaliser. However then, right at the death it was his poor clearance that set up the County winner.. :(

Only one preference for me Bob and that was the Highlanders, my sad brother being a 'Hibby'. McIntyre the County boss got his tactics right by playing five in the midfield as he has watched other teams playing the same formation against Hibs. Hibs maybe should have edged it but despite having decent players they failed to deliver. Liam Henderson on loan from Celtic, Anthony Stokes en route to Euro's with RoI and another on loan from Celtic, Scotland International Kevin Thamson who is ex Rangers and Middlesborough and now in his second spell at Easter Road, last season's Rangers Captain Darren McGregor, as well as Jason Cummings who is being monitored by several English Championship Clubs. Despite being a final the two clubs were watched at Hampden by only 38,000 fans.

News from the SPL is that St Mirren have allocated a whole extra stand to Rangers fans for a forthcoming fixture, in the event that they win the title there.

Meanwhile an avid Rangers fan in Glasgow got a lovely Birthday Cake from his workmates. That is until he cut it open. 'Barstewards'

Even if only watching the first 45 minutes before the 'Toon' v 'Mackems' match kicks off on Sunday, before that, there's the small matter of the Dundee derby at Dens Park, where Dundee are at home to Dundee United. It could be either the start of a miraculous effort by United to avoid the drop or could send them deeper in the 'cack'.

The fans player of the year awards have just been announced from Ibrox and I'm not at all surprised at the winner. Number 4 until his bad injury a few weeks ago was the highest scorer in the UK so I thought he would have been higher. No James Tavernier???????

1. Lee Wallace
2. Barrie McKay
3. Jason Holt
4. Martyn Waghorn
5. Kenny Miller

Probably not household names to you English fella's out there other than maybe Kenny Miller who has played for Wolves, Derby and Cardiff in the English Leagues and also for Celtic. Now in his third spell at Ibrox.

Ladbrokes Scottish Championship

Falkirk 3-2 Rangers
It looked business as usual as the visitors went 2 goals up inside the first 10 minutes. That was as good as it got though as Falkirk fought back to score 3 in the second half.
So Rangers lead at the top is now cut to 11 points by Falkirk, although they do have a game in hand.
Falkirk now head Hibs (who have been rather involved in Cup competitions) by 6 points, but have played 3 more games than them.
Raith Rovers make up the last play off place but they are 13 back from Hibs & played a game more.
Their final place still looks pretty secure though as they are 7 points clear, with a game in hand of 5th. placed Morton.

Scunthorpe 1-1 Chesterfield
Boreham Wood 0-0 Macclesfield
Braintree 1-0 Cheltenham
Tranmere 1-1 Forest Green
Alfreton 0-1 FC United of Manchester
The Iron have rather gone off the boil since I frightened them with thoughts of a play off spot.. :D
Apparently they 'lacked energy' according to manager (??) Nick Daws.
Do they have a manager now??
Has Jon's gran been too free with her favours of late to the squad causing loss of energy??

Macclesfield still can't get a win this year, but the draw was enough to shove hosts Boreham Wood into the drop zone. Macclesfield trundle along in 12th. spot without a great deal to play for.

Town are quaking as the end approaches !! Braintree are in 5th. spot, so no slouches, but Town had a rare off day & never got going. They stay top by a point as rivals Rovers must be kicking themselves for having a man sent off against Tranmere which made a point a good result.

A rare low scorer for FC United of Manchester but the 3 points are enough to ensure that they now look unlikely to be drawn into a relegation scrap. I say unlikely, although they are now in 12th. place. However they are now 7 points clear of the zone with 7 to play. Some of the sides below them (but NOT in the actual zone) do have as many as 4 extra games to play, so them remaining as high as 12th. come season end is unlikely..

And Hibs failed to capitalise on Rangers defeat at Falkirk on Friday as they lost 2-1 away at Raith Rovers yesterday.

Looks like it will be East Stirling involved in a play off to avoid relegation from the Scottish League, socksy ?

Falkirk are a good young side.I watched them beat Rangers earlier in the season.Sadly I think most of these talented youngsters will eventually be snapped up by the bigger Scottish clubs or end up playing in England.

Didnt Bora Rangers beat Edinburgh City last season to get a play off fixture against Montrose ?
I think it was Brora and they won the first leg 1-0 against Montrose but were beaten 3-1 in the second leg.
Brora is in the far north of Scotland......just in case you didnt know, socksy ! :D
