Yea really. Why bother with any others.

Don't need to pay 2 to 3 times as much to be disappointed. Most Thais do it better, and cheaper. =D>

T Bar, about the only value around, close to or in town. PapaFarang's, but too far for a quick fix for myself.

Hippo i understand that your prefered restaurant serves dinner, not lunch. How about a lunch place serving similar food at similar prices ?

Monthly food budget ?

Our food budget is 25 K baht a month. I eat about 80% farrang food. The 25 K doesn't include things like lobster. No beer or booze involved,
Ya, sounds high, but I record everything in Quickens and just ran a report for Groceries last month and it came up with 21,507 baht. Just ran it for this month and it came up with 19,584 -
but mine includes beer and scotch. This is for 3 people and is what we spend at Tesco, big C, tops, royal project, Makro, thai beef, and ngee soon. Does not include eating out, or stuff wife picks up.

Also I eat like a bird. Wife is thin, but eats like a bear, son thin as a rail (unless I cook) eats a lot of junk.

So maybe 25k not so high? I remember 10 years ago I would go to tesco and spend under 1k, now I go and its around 2k or over.

Speaking about Groceries, the other day went to Tesco with wife, lady says if you split it into 2 orders, can save 100 baht or so, said ok, stop at 1k for first one. She stop at 1007 and I paid that, then she rang up the rest and it came to a little over 500, gave me a 200 baht discount, so paid 300 and some change. Strange discount I must say, looking to count more customers or something? :D

They have been doing this on and off for about the past 18 months that I know of, maybe longer.

Please give descriptions of the food presented as just a picture is not easy to understand. Of course french fries on show is ok but the other ingredients are not obvious. Otherwise looks ok and price is reasonable.
Kind regards from

It looks as though it was home cooked.
Never heard of a restaurant that serves food on an old piece of welded steel plate.
Hippo seems to do this a lot & never gives a description or where it was bought/cooked.
Pomps was the best for posting about meals bought at different restaurants with good descriptions about service, price & location along with photos.
Sadly he seems to have departed Udon.

All these wonderful emporiums of excellently priced food is wonderful, however by the time one has driven around the town, found somewhere to park the jalopy, walked to said place cost is rather irrelevant. I love the Vietnam restaurant but like so many others the other side of town to myself, therefore savings on food is outweighed by fuel costs and if you do not like it, even more costly.

Unless a sponsor, details aren't permitted.

And looks like a nicely butterflied chicken breast........My guess would be the CenterPoint vendor in the corner......... :-$

Agree, many places, vendors are only visited if in the area, and rarely worthy a special trip. AND yes......no parking, sorry, not for me.
