Court House
Court House
I see that the new Court House on the road to NK seems to be finished...Saw the Thai flag flying from the top of the building yesterday...
Does anyone have any idea what this is for? Why do they need this huge building half way between Udon and NK? Is this to replace the govt buildings in downtown Udon? It is going to be a long commute for employees and citizens needing services...

Re: Court House
It's certainly an impressive building and a good looker in my view, exterior anyway (also the St.Mary's new building, further down the same highway). My wife believes it to be a court of some kind, juvenile? - possibly something to do with Asean too? It would be disconcerting to believe that youth/family problems run to the extent of keeping that massive building fully staffed.
Re: Court House
We are talking about different buildings different roads.
1 Sakon nahkon Road
2 Nong Khai Road
I was referring to the one on the Sakon nahkon road just down from the new build for Marie Pitak school so I have been reliably informed.

The OP quoted " on the road to NK" and it's the buildings on that road that I referred to. The photo appears to be the completed building on that road.
What's on the Sakhon Nakhon Rd, I've no idea.

Re: Court House
Brian, again my understanding is that this quite large development is proposed to become the new Justice Department/Courts complex. From memory, building operations commenced a couple of years ago, followed by the usual 'stagnation period', lasting months. Over the last couple of months there has been a great surge of activity, as a result of which the complex appears to be nearing completion. The development overall, is quite impressive.Brian Davis wrote:The OP quoted " on the road to NK" and it's the buildings on that road that I referred to. I have been given to understand, (NOT officially verified), it is earmarked to house the 'Family Courts" & connected administrative offices.
What's on the Sakhon Nakhon Rd, I've no idea.
Re: Court House
dang, I thought the one on eh SK road was a big hotel.. They just put up the big nameplate on the front wall yesterday.. it's a court! It's just east of the SCG store..

Re: Court House
As per usual I am confused as to where this original posters building or buildings is located. NK road or SN road?
one day i'll travel down both roads and check it out but there is another govt building nearing completion on the irrigation water catchment lake at Nongsam Rong, quite a handsome building aswell.
I can even see my place across the lake from the rear.

I'm just showing another govt building being built near my place out the back of Nong Sam Rong, someone has released the purse strings a while back for these building to be erected. They are not small.

I thought he was very clear.
Re: Court House
The confusion was my making there are two buildings one Sakon Nahkon Road a Labour Court which in my mind would be redundant as I never really see many Thais working hard enough to have disputes they just walk off the bloody job.
And the other one on the Nong Khai Road which as I understand is a far bigger affair for family court or something like that.

Really, KP, you just never let up. I know a few folks who have grown bitter along with growing old. I tell myself everyday I won't let that happen to me.Khun Paul wrote:The confusion was my making there are two buildings one Sakon Nahkon Road a Labour Court which in my mind would be redundant as I never really see many Thais working hard enough to have disputes they just walk off the bloody job.

really the latest is a State enterprise employee who goes to work then leaves drives his taxi all day and returns to clock out. Bitter you think I may be, factual I am and with reason.
There are some good Thai folk out there to be sure and I have met and am friends with many but they never speak about the bad apples, well I do . like it or love it . Bitter I am not opinionated I may be , live with it. !
Re: Court House
I realize this is off topic of Court House BUT How can one take a negative of one person and condem the whole population of one Country?
Enjoy hearing the positives such as being help when ones vehicle has broken down on the side of the road
Helping out of an orphanage with donations
Hopefully Thais will not look at only me and condem the whole Expat community
I like it here I love the people here
Hopefully others can show it also
Hope this helps
