Monthly food budget ?
Re: Monthly food budget ?
Hippo please stop ......
Of the 6 dishes you posted , 5 have fries, meat, sauce, plus one pasta dish.
All fattening.....
Do you have a more healthy menu to propose ? I am trying to lose few kg.
Looking forward to seeing your next offering.

On the subject of VT Namneuang......it's one of the very few restaurants in Udon with an active drive-thru. It's very convenient for a quick stop to pick up a meal for home. My favorite......the Viet style springrolls....ปอเปี๊ยะสด......50 Baht. Always fresh.
Re: Monthly food budget ?
and VT is opening a gigantic restaurant venue on Mittrsphap Highway about 1 kilometer south of the Ring Road off the southbound lane.. Their billboard seems to show a multi-lane drive thru and a huge restaurant area.. I'd reckon right now its perhaps 60-70% done...

Re: Monthly food budget ?
That is actually not true LA.
Members are allowed to talk about their dinning experience at any establishment in the area of the Forum designed specifically for that..
http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/e ... s-f90.html
What they are NOT allowed to do is turn their contribution into a free advertising campaign for any such non Sponsor.
Some members seem to have difficulty walking the distinction between a genuine review & free advertising, overstep the mark & so have their post removed.
Here, as always, the verdict of the owner of UdonMap is always the final deciding voice!!!

Re: Monthly food budget ?
You carry on Hippo, your posts are enlightening and despite the negativity of one particular poster, I thank-you for your strolling around Udon and finding new and varied places for us westerners to ease our hunger pains .

Re: Monthly food budget ?
That steak looks good is it tender?
Re: Monthly food budget ?
The kilo 16 ตะ-หฺลาด-นัด dta-laat-nat is about as good as it gets for cheap veggies/fruits. There are similar versions of the weekly market all around the city. My wife occasionally shops at Ban Hui market.....she says the same amount of onions there would easily cost a few times more than the weekly market.
My wife and I like to joke about "what can you buy in the US for less than a dollar (including tax)". The answer is, 'not much'.
These onions cost 30 baht.
