Re: Workshop and house, Non Sa-At ½ way between KK & Udon
There's been a little bit of a hiatus due to replacing my iPad
Anyway continuing with October;
The next step will be a paint room behind the workshop and SWMBO is going to build a washing area and toilet in the banana jungle
This is a rendition of a sketchup model proposed by the architect. And how the height and roof pattern has been modified
The usual foundation pictures
But because the architect wants them to start at the same level and the house is on a raised mound this one is a little deeper than the others!
A thin concrete base

The paint shop progress
Rain stopped play
SWMBO wants an outside toilet and clothes washing area, originally an outside kitchen and washing area and toilet. So the foundations are going in.

The paint room is progressing well
SWMBO's outside toilet and washing area is also doing well
SWMBO decided that the original plan to have an outside kitchen is getting revived as the building was just too good so she is having a separate small toilet constructed in a corner of our land that doesn't do well for plants due to the eucalyptus trees .

What is the paint room?
Why is the outside kitchen so far from the house?
So will you have AC units? I guess you open the window vents upper windows remotely and then get this big updraft? THis is the 4th build thread I read today.. I am quite impressed with Thai builders on the macro scale.. I cant see the small details from your picture. very cool building. All this crap about 2 45's instead of a 90 and water head pressure and pressure tanks was a couple bad pages to read.. similar to barneys build thread..
Pipe Dia has no bearing on static pressure... only important once the water flows.
Narrowing pipe will not change the static head pressure. And it will reduce the flowrate compared to all larger diameter.
. P= (rho)gh rho is density of the fluid and g is gravity and h is height.
Are we talking a bladder pressure tank? No pressure tank can provide all the water at an elevated pressure that will have much effect. But I can surely see plenty of water flowing for at least a decent shower or to fill a loo. I think an elevated tank is a great feature and with all that steel I am sure you can carry some big tanks.
I didn't understand the part about forgot the mosquito netting on the roof? you mean they get in the cracks in the roof steel?

Maybe.

I will not reopen the discussion about water, [-o< if you have questions related it it in this build, I may (or may not) respond.
There should be no cracks in the roof steel.

The house is protected from mosquitos, because the builders forgot to put mosquito netting in the roof space they had to seal the walls.

Re: Workshop and house, Non Sa-At ½ way between KK & Udon
My post about water was just some ramblings. I thought the discussion git out of hand a bit in that area and really distracted from your nice home build thread. I think an elevated water tank is a great idea if power or city water flow is an issue.
I figured the paint room was for wood working things. It looks like a nice cabinet shop space with loading dock and all. I have a fantasy about my wood working shop in retirement. To bad I couldn't sell my stuff? Or could I?
I for sure thought that you would use the chimney effect for cooling with all those nice windows. I love the L shaped windows. Big overhanging roof.

Hi Jerome,
All looking good.
I went to the Mr Ken ceiling fans we spoke of very briefly. Was resigned to going to Bangkok to check them out and talking to you about your discount, but the big new house material supplier on the ring road ended up having them. Saved a trip to the big smoke.
How did your fans end up? I may have missed if you put photos up?
Other thing was what did you end up deciding on for the crane rail, a chain block or electric lifting hook?
All looking good.

Chain block as there's no single point electrical version 500 kg 1,500 Baht. Sneak preview, fan mounting points up, more information later about not fitted yet.Barney wrote:Hi Jerome,

Jerome,
Got the Mr Ken Fans at the large new home warehouse behind NAT Honda on the ring road, Kut Chap turn off.
In the lighting section Honda end. Got my 8 fans there. Not cheap but got a store discount with other purchases.
No idea how to spell it, store name is in thai
Barvunabuhm????? is my best guess.
I like the crane rails and looks like some good engineering went into it.
Don't forget to put your SWL rating on the rail for when the safety auditor comes.

The crane already has the SWL rating welded onto one of the end struts

The all 4 end trucks are all 1 ton as is the center one so 500 kg is very conservative
