I was wondering,do you think having sex for money is really selling one's soul?I guess it would be ,if they were religious and it was a violation of the belief.

I say this because I think every person the marrys for security and has sex with their partner is ,in a sense,having sex for money!

I think any girl that sleeps with strangers for money and detest what they are doing,might feel like they are selling their soul.

I think from time to time some of us presume to know what is going on inside a bar girl's (or any other sex worker's) head, but in reality we don't have a clue.

Oh Too True BKKSTAN!!, I agree totally with you, this is almost whole new post in-itself. Because in my view their are many forms and levels of prositition.

E.g Meet a "nice girl" in a discoteque, works lets say as a secretary, Falung feels comfortable as she is not a bargirl. But then before they know it they are paying cellphone cards, 500 bt helmet fines,etc.etc.etc.....until eventually they get married and pay the dowrey. And this senario is the world over not just Thailand.

SO when is prostition "prostition"

I'm sure one of you guys have an OXford Dic and can clarify this??

Hi guys I now have the girl i met on the net living with me in capetown for the last 3 weeks,best moov i ever made her mother put her photo and profile on the TLL site ,no gold no internet till mother set it up never in a bar married to a thai guy (taxi driver in bk)she lived in nongbua lamphu divorced him one kid ,little english
but she is learning fast,yes there is gold in them there hills ,just got to do some digging

Some 11 years ago a friend of mine was getting over a financially debilitating divorce, left with nothing.
He wanted to come to Thailand to help with the recovery process.
Against my advice he ended up in Nana, again, against my advice he fell for a go go dancer, against my advice he ended up taking her to OZ and marrying her.
My thoughts "what a bloody fool"
She set up a small restaurant in the Burbs, grew it and now has two sizable Businesses.
About a year ago, he took early retirement, and lives off the money she makes from her business, she has purchased a nice town house for them and he plays golf most days.

NOW who's the fool

let me ad my two cents I did not read all the post so if some one posted this please accept my apology rule 1 never give them more than you can afford to LOSE because you will lose it rule 2 if you should buy them a house get it mortgaged for at least 10 years or more this way if they should screw up you can walk away and let some one else pay for the house rule 3 same rule apply for a car or truck you buy them in there name Now you can always suggest buying a condo and see how they react to that since you can own a condo and if you have enough cash to buy a car truck get it in your name only buy them a motor bike in there name it not going to break you but at least be with them for a few months before you do buy it for them and do not be a fool like supporting there parents and family etc. most of these girls momma & poppa are younger and stronger than you are let them get a job and don't buy them a house I see that all to often farlongs buying homes for there poppa & momas just remember when your savings is gone it gone forever your to old to earn it again and remember the word you earned it not any one else today i am married i was with my tgf 2+ years before I married her I am happy with her but I have my horror story to tell also from a previous tgf we all learn from bad experences but if we repeat them then we are fools good luck with your adventure in to the love boat

There seems to be a propensity of deception among Thai women, and the gullibility of farangs certainly plays into it. And there is the family factor - if the woman is from a poor familly, she will likely jump at the chance to provide for them, even if it means an unhappy marriage to a strange foreigner. These are all factors that can lead to disaster for all involved.

Add to that, the failure rate of modern marriages and the exacerbation resulting from a cross-cultural relationship, and one is very lucky to get along for several years, let alone a lifetime.

Buying with a mortgage makes a lot of sense under these circumstance, unless, of course, you are willing to make an outright gift to your significant other, regardless of outcome.

As aznyron suggested, only give what you can afford to loose. You never know what fate will bring to you.

c'mom guys, I know the signs are true. I've come to Thailand for a long time, and I know the methods of the lady's. But I don't blame them, if you see them work on those fat ,old,young horney farangs (no offence, I don't mean any of our fine members) who are only thinkin' with there small heads, I say yeah girls take 'em for all they're worth....they think it's easy game , and they are the great white hunters ....don't be a bad looser

.......are not we supposted to be the smart ones???

Anyone can argue the finer points of any situation and come up with different scenarios.

But in all cases the three base rules as explained to me years ago should still be right at the fore front of any decision making when considering anything with a thai woman beyond a short no committment fling:-

1) Think with the one in your head not the one in your pants
2) Financially commit no more than you can afford to walk away from with a grin on your face
3) Time, time, time ... use it to learn about the person you are committing to.

A wise thai friend (woman) very early on in my visits to Thailand gave me the 3 rules that thai women look for with us, in explaining why I would have no trouble getting the thai wife of my dreams:-

1) Security from a fat falang wallet (expand to earning opportunity living in a western coutry sending/taking money home)
2) The bedroom bliss - we are bigger so that also applies in the one eyed trouser snake department
3) Our features to pass onto children - facial structure including a non ape like nose (apologies to the PC brigade - I love my thai wifes flat nose, but that is the way Asian girls think) and the white beautiful (??? I also love a dark Isaan girl's colour) skin.

Roadman very good as for #1 that ok even western girls are looking for that
the only problem is some times greed sets in and the thai girl has two or three B/F giving her money
that why in my earlier post I said DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE.
that includes house's cars trucks condos and large sums of cash
this way when you catch them lieing to you
you can walk away with out to much of a loss
as for #2 does not apply to me LOL
and for #3 you are correct is seems to bother my wife she say all the time she wished she had a nose like me even my 7 yr old niece said the same thing

consenting adults can do and be as intelligent or maybe not. my only gripe is if deception is involved.

More than 15 years ago I worked in a Thai factory with three other farangs. Since I had been here a little longer than they had, I knew my way around a bit. I introduced all three of them to fun loving BUT good hearted bar girls. Amazingly enough all three married their bar girls. I went a different path. My bride spoke good English, had an education and had a degree in accounting. Guess which three marriages are still going strong? My educated lady developed a gambling habit that became stronger than her marriage and her future. Bar girls are human too. Some are good and some are not.

I'd say having a gambling habit is a serious 'danger sign', that's for sure.

I would also say that any Thai girl that smokes (cigarettes), is a clear danger sign.
