Fila's are ' highly ' protective of ' their ' family and will go to any lengths to protect them.. you would need to spend a long time training one to be able to walk around Nong Prajak Park and it would need to be muzzled as they do not like anyone coming near their owners space.... at all!
Our four dogs guard the ranch so they are not really trained to do much else, although they do not need to be trained to guard.. this is inbuilt into their breeding personality...my wife and my children can handle them easily.. my son wrestles with them every day and he can sit on them and give them loads of abuse without us having any worry of any of them ' turning ' on him... but if his friends come to play or for that matter any of my friends (or customers) come to the ranch they are put in the dog pound... they do not like outsiders or strangers.. there would be no point in having a guard dog otherwise![]()
For vetting of potential buyers, I can normally tell quite quickly if they would be suitable by just asking a few questions and seeing their responses...making sure they have a suitably sized property with an adequate wall, previous dog experience,,enough income to be able to feed their new family member etc etc... In fact the last person that I refused a pup was given his deposit back and told to leave as he kept asking and seemed very concerned about the monthly cost of feeding one.. I told him this dog is not for you if you are worried about his food bill...![]()
There is a very good link online which describes a Fila dog perfectly.. anyone that owns one I feel sure cannot disagree: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/filabrasileiro.htm
Like Dui Dui suggested in his post it would be great to hear from some of the other members that have bought pups off me and let us know of their experiences.. I get owners sending me photos and updates regularly on facebook.. they are a very addictive dog and we have like a small Fila dog community...
Please feel free to ask anymore questions and I am happy to advise ...
