Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
Generally speaking they're about as quiet/crap as each other. There's a couple of busier bars on Soi Samphan but they're not that busy either.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.
Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
If Pattaya is comatose (which it truly is), Udon must be on life-support. Make sure nobody trips over the power cord and pulls the plug on the way out.
...or maybe they should.

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
Hello Chaps.
I've just joined up as I'm flying in from Pattaya tomorrow for 4 nights.
I will be staying in The Centara....any recommendations for nightlife at all in the centre, or is it beyond hope?

Depends a bit what you are looking for Trevor.
It will be way low key compared to Patts though.
There are still, usually, some lively bars around within walking distance of where you are staying though. Just need to be willing to have a wander & just because a bar can be good one night does not guarantee it will have a customer the next.
The Sports Bar, the Fun Bar, The Viking Bar & Tui's in Nutty Park are all, in my opinion, worth a look..

Thanks Bob....I'll go for a wander and report back.

Agree with those venues and your assessment.BobHelm wrote:Depends a bit what you are looking for Trevor.

Not much happening on a consistent basis, which you addressed. It runs hot and cold, but mostly cold overall these days. It's probably the toughest time in the last 10 or so years to own a bar.

Agree with Bob's suggestions, and would add that if you happen to be out earlier in the day (before 8pm/9pm) some bars have happy hours. Zanzebar ?? in Day & Night have beers at B50 till 8pm & Lucky Bar also D&N at B45 till 9pm. Lucky Bar also seems to have a BBQ most Friday evenings. Others may well have offers available that I have not noticed

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
I fully agree DM; far & away the best bar in town. Also worth mentioning that, in the main, the girls are not your usual 'professional' bar girls, but students from the local educational institutes working to payoff students fees/loans, and that the majority of the customers are local ex-pats having a social night out, enjoying the unintrusive background music, chatting, drinking and being pampered, before happily setting off to return home to their loved ones.Drunk Monkey wrote:the Fun Bar seems to be the place to be , small bar next door to the Irish Clock always full , Bill n Fa great hosts good music diverse beer selection and wall to wall top totty if that's what you are into. dm
Hopefully, my fear that the relaxed laid back atmosphere of the Fun Bar will be lost in a cacophony of noise, (music?), played at maximum volume from the recently opened Rock/Disco establishment immediately next door, will prove unjustified. [-o< [-o<

Thanks everybody....will give the suggestions a whirl.
Sounds like there is some nightlife in town after all!
Also I will try and visit The UT Festival today or tomorrow.
Anybody know if it has a website with more info?....Google is coming up blank
Once again....thanks for your help.

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
Sorry, no information about a web site..
But, here is a map.
The fair is held on the green strip in the top left hand corning by Prajak Lake.
Your hotel is in the bottom right hand corner.
It certainly is walkable as long as the temperature is reasonable. A tuk tuk is probably your best approach though..

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
So last night I walked the 'circuit' and stopped in a few bars.... Sorry, can't remember any names.
I have to say it was better than this thread had led me to fear!
There were a reasonable number of customers around and the natives are certainly very friendly!
Seems to me though, much like Pattaya there are too many bars for the number of customers.
I bought a few ladydrinks and to my pleasant surprise it seems I was charged the same as mine...is this normal or did I strike lucky?

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
2nd night out and discovered the charms of City Lodge!
3 hours and way too much whisky later l was lucky enough to be escorted back to my hotel by one of the local tourist helpers!
The scene is certainly very compact, but it was a good night out, and I'm currently hoovering up one of Fuzzyken's breakfasts.

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
Trevor, I like sitting over at the Beer garden at UD Town, lots of hot girls to look at (out Fuzzy kens turn right and walk to the end of the road where the lights are and UD Town is the outdoor mall across the street to the right) , but I never been there alone so not sure if it would get boring I mean sitting with nobody to chat with...
Should check out the new Rock House, I will next week, Out Fuzzy Kens turn left cross over the street towards the mall walk past the cars entering the mall and its down on your right hand side about 150M

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
Thanks for the tips Nick...
I ate in UD Town last night.....to my surprise bumped into one of my Pattaya ex Teeraks who works there!
I don't know who was more shocked...her or me.
I walked past the Rock House this morning...may well drop by this evening.
Once again, many thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
Will be arriving to Udon 2d week of May. Glad to see someone posting positive info on nightlife. From previous posts was wondering if Udon Thani was dead. Thanks Chubbytrevor for your posts, looks like there is plenty to do and see at night while I'm in the city. Looking forward for any more updates you might have or any specific bars to check out.
Re: Udon's Farang Nightlife
There is always plenty to see and do In Udon at night, it really does depend on your requirements or taste as to what areas you decide to go to. More and more the old favourites bars etc are being replaced by restaurants etc scattered around the town
True Soi Sampan and Nutty park have experienced ups and downs, notably because to exchange rates and people do leave and not return, some people in recent years have passed away and as we grow older many long term expats prefer less exciting or expensive venues.
