NEXIT ... could it happen?

Post by vincemunday » March 13, 2017, 7:56 am

On the 15th we have the Dutch elections and potentially another nail in the coffin of the EU. Candidate Geert Wilders campaign was starting to wain, his constant railing against the Moroccans backfired and people started to worry about his anti Muslim rhetoric. However, in the last few days the Dutch have been accused of being Nazis by Turkey's president Erdogen. Turkey have been seeking visa free travel to the EU, something that a lot of Dutch people aren't very keen on, and this spat has resulted in the cancellation of a meeting between Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Holland's prime minister, and Binali Yildirim, his Turkish counterpart. This has enraged many Turks who live in Holland and some of them have gone on the rampage in Rotterdam, has this played into the hand of Wilders? We will see but I think it might help his cause a great deal, NEXIT and the end of the EU could become reality!

Just to inform all that the mentioned prime minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen is NOT Dutch prime minister but DANISH prime minister, and not a very  popular one.

Yes,the Dutch Prime Minister is Mark Rutte.....for now anyway.... :badteeth:

"Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has warned immigrants to "be normal or be gone" — adding that people who seek freedom in the Netherlands but "reject our values" should leave.
Rutte made the declarations in newspaper advertisements and interviews in January, The Telegraph reports, as part of appeal to right-wing voters.
He heads the liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy and is facing a strong re-election challenge from Geert Wilders and his Party for Freedom.
Dutch citizens vote on March 15. Polls show Wilders leading Rutte, winning 33 seats to 24 in the Netherlands' 150-seat parliament.
Wilders' party also has published a one-page mission statement that pledges to close mosques, ban the Koran and close borders to migrants seeking asylum.
Immigration remains a tense issue in the Netherlands, with a spike in numbers at the end of 2015 causing bloody protests over proposals for reception centers for migrants, according to the Telegraph.
Wilders has also slammed Rutte for his attempts to "deceive" Dutch citizens on Twitter: "The man of open borders, asylum tsunami, mass immigration, Islamisation, lies and deceit."
Rutte's ad also came under attack from one Wilders supporter, local activist Anita Hendriks, who also took to Twitter: "Not stolen enough yet, Mark?"
Despite Wilders' popularity, he is not close to winning a majority in Parliament — the Telegraph reports — and other major parties say that they would not form a coalition government with the Party for Freedom
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

There was a time, not so long ago (before the Brexit “turkeys” developed selective amnesia) when Erdogan and Turkey were totally toxic.

It is a telling measure of just how low the UK has sunk in the world with the Brexit referendum that Theresa May has found that the only people she can jump into bed with are authoritarian scum like Trump and Erdogan
Ashamed to be English since 23rd June 2016 when England voted for racism & economic suicide.

A Nexit is not on the cards here in the Netherlands and never have been! Only Wilders party is in favour of that.Wilders party is sliding in the polls every week. In January he was clearly leading with more then 30 seats .The latest poll from yesterday indicates only 19-23 seats . Sorry if I spoilt someone's Nexit dream!

I think you're right Paul, I think it will be a big influence.

Well, many suggested that too but todays poll indicates that there is a no big sway happening right now.
Only minor changes between the parties compared to yesterdays poll. It will be a close call between the Liberal Party of PM Rutte and Wilders PVV for top spot. Liberal party has a slender lead of 2 seats. Four other parties are not far behind.
