Re: God on this Earth! No way...
It is amazing to me how the Word of God speaks to every single argument that has been voiced on this topic. Yet, because of the hardness of a man's heart he can neither find nor understand the purposes and meaning of life even when they are so near, but instead he prefers to rely on his own vain imaginations and man-made religions.
The Apostle Paul ran into such people during one of his evangelistic outreaches to the city of Athens. History is still repeating itself over and over, even on this forum as men prefer to worship their idols instead of the one true and living God. In Acts 17 Paul spoke thusly to those who had gathered:
22Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.
24“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28‘For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.
29“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed...Jesus the Christ. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
32When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” 33At that, Paul left the Council. 34Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed.
Nearly everyone who has commented on this particular post has "sneered" just as people have been doing the world over for over 2000 years. I detect that the majority of those posts have been made by men who have been exposed to some form of religion, mostly Catholicism, and therefore I completely understand your cynicism and skepticism because chances are you have never heard the "Truth" of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You have only been exposed to a form of godliness which denies the power thereof. You have been taught by priests and other church leaders who are like whitewashed tombs which look beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
It is my prayer that each and every one of you will come to a knowledge of the Truth which can only be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no man comes to the Father except through Me". He is your only hope of salvation!

Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

A friend of my father used to say, "If a man says he is a Christian, keep an eye on him. If he carries a bible, keep both eyes on him".
Re: God on this Earth! No way...
One undisputable fact is that man made religions are the source of the majority of problems here on the planet. Worship your God as you wish but leave the fairytale books out of it.

So, in other words, worship the way YOU want them to worship.glalt wrote: ... Worship your God as you wish but leave the fairytale books out of it.

seems quite reasonable statement to me, no one forces anyone to believe ,or not to believe, personal choice. how and what they believe , I guess you are just saying you find it hard to believe that noah built an ark that kangaroos had to swim from Australia to the middle east to get on board I don't think kangaroos can swim across the pacific ocean. hey aussie boys put me right here, are kangaroos great swimmers ? is it feasible that they could have swam to the middle east ?glalt wrote: Worship your God as you wish but leave the fairytale books out of it.

One would go mad if one took the bible seriously; but to take the bible seriously one must be already mad

Believe it or not, Kangaroos are quite good swimmers and can cover large distances, but the trip across the Pacific is probably a bit of a stretch
Unless they can island hop 555
I was obviously forced to be mad when I was young, but now totally rational, I thinkkulsungkham wrote:One would go mad if one took the bible seriously; but to take the bible seriously one must be already mad

funny enough they tried that on me too, took me to a big creepy building with loads of dead people buried all over the place, then the high priest told me I must believe or I will burn forever or get nailed to a cross. then I had to eat some flesh and drink blood. he then took my sixpence pocket money saying god needed the cash. other than that they seemed like normal rational people

Agree 100% Kangaroos can swim. But why swim the Pacific when it would have been easier to swim the Indian Ocean as.its quicker to Turkey.
Roos would have been ideal creatures for a boat large enough etc. They carry 1 joey in the pouch that can hop outside for a while. Then they have an embryro that has been formed and allowed to advance its development once plenty of food and water are out there. 3rd they have a fertilised egg as well.
As.I have posted before rhe Koala was.going to have significant issues feeding as very limited Gum trees to choose from to force off starvation. The dingoes rhat travelled by.land could have pucked them.off also.

can Koalas swim too . and how did insects survive ? or fresh water fish ? and trees, I wonder how long it would take for the planet to be covered in trees again ? then of course there's dinosaurs, at least they can prove dinosaurs existed. I like the argument about that one, apparently there was dinosaurs on the ark, but they become extinct after they left the ark

'Do you believe what's written in the Bible?' now that is the real question, not do you believe in god, do you believe in the Bible.

All books written by man were written to convince others that the writer knew what he was talking about. The only thing the writer did was to express his own thoughts. Most christians believe in the bible and ALL muslims believe in the koran. That doesn't mean the books are correct. Quite the contrary.

Is a good statement but could be construed as an own goal.Kernow Kid wrote:Heh.. goal to Lone Star.Lone Star wrote:Kinda like written posts on forums, huh?glalt wrote:All books written by man were written to convince others that the writer knew what he was talking about.
Non believers or evolutionists or free thinkers as I like to term it are not trying to convince others there is no god.
Its the believers or creationists who have for centuries through fables and tales tried to convince all and sundry that there is a god, and join their flock. Sheep comes to mind.
Atheist's do not go around espousing their non belief, but at times do join debate after what is seen, to them, as nonsensical stories. Asking why and for at least some shred of proof of god other then what is written in religious texts brings about, usually in a patronizing manner, condemnation and veiled threats of eternal hell fire and a life of misery for free thinkers using their so called higher class and enlightenment way of thinking.
It is certain believers who generally start the conversation leading to debate. A debate they cannot win.
I, as a free thinker, do not condemn believers and am happy to leave them to their life under the guidance of a god.
It is really of no concern to me. Believe what you want.

"Believe what you want"... Is similar to Aleister Crowley's "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law".
This statement indicates that adherents, who are known as Thelemites, should seek out and follow their own true path in life, known as their True Will.
